Step four: Larger than life is just the right size*

Once again - even with Monday's Bank Holiday - this week has dragged. But we're almost there. Salvation is just around the corner...

It's the eve of the "Gay World Cup" aka the Eurovision Song Contest (yay!), and this evening I will be transforming Dolores Delargo Towers (a la To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar) into even more of a glitter-and-tinsel extravaganza than usual - in preparation for the Party Of The Year tomorrow night.

[We will, of course - cough, cough! - be cheering for the UK entry Molly and her - ahem - fabulous Children of the Universe, and not, of course, for Conchita Wurst. At all.]

To mark the start of the celebrations, here's the unsuccessful attempt to get nominated (at Melodifestivalen 2014) for this year's Swedish entry (typically, a cod-"power-ballad" was chosen instead) by the camp-tastic Alcazar:

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a particularly sparkly weekend, dears...

[* If you didn't get the reference - and if not, shame on you - it's a quote from the aforementioned "To Wong Foo".]

  1. Aaaah, my dear Alcazar - when will they actually WIN Melodifestivalen, they are always sooo close! A fabulous number to set the scene for what promises to be a fun Euro-weekend!

I am obviously NOT backing my home country this year (I almost never do, but this year is painfully bad - can't for the life of my understand how it got through to the finals). In fact, there are very few entries this year that I can get excited about. I know I will be voting for Hungary and I just might send a vote or two to The Netherlands, Sweden and Austria as well. I can't get very excited about the UK entry but I am looking forward to see the performance tomorrow though. Just wish there were more "fun" numbers - seems that most of the upbeat, dance-able songs were eliminated in the semi-finals.

I just know you and your party will be sending all your votes to Poland... Oh, and darling: of course I got the quote. Everyone should know that film by heart - I think that's healthy!

    1. I can't deny it - I haven't listened to the Polish entry "We Are Slavic". I thought "this will be soooo good, I'll save that feast for the senses till tomorrow..."

Noxeema Jackson: "When a gay man has way too much fashion sense for one gender he is a drag queen."

      Vida Boheme: "Thank you."

  2. "Feast for the senses", you say? Somehow I suspect that several of your senses will not be very, erm, excited...

Sheriff Dollard: I know what you want. Do you know what you career girls want?
    Vida Boheme: Careers?

  3. I am all about Conchita. As for Alcazar, there seems to be a little too much ham in the middle of that sandwich.

    1. There's no such thing as "too much ham" where Eurovision's concerned! Jx

  4. More of a glitter-and-tinsel extravaganza than usual?

    The mind boggles.
