To you, my heart cries out Perfidia

Another weekend over... A visit from mother, rain, a very late night out at "The Elephant's Graveyard" aka The City of Quebec, more rain, a day with Radio 2, more rain. And suddenly it's back to work again... Ho hum.

Let us set our minds on somewhere warmer, as we visit Spain (I wish) on this Tacky Music Monday. And who else will help cheer us up other than the incomparable Senorita Sara Montiel?

Enjoy!

  1. One of the most romantic songs ever written and a little camp to boot.

Thank you for posting this version I don't think it is in our Perfidia collection yet. We have almost enough cover versions to fill a cd on their own

From Dorothy Lamour and Glenn Miller, Xavier Cugat, through Mel Torme, Julie london, the Ventures, and of course the best version ever Vikki Carr right through to, Nana Mouskouri, Linda Ronstadt, a Cha Cha Cha and a reggae version

It is the perfect piece of music to add to any cheesey cocktail lounge mix ,Tony Hatch and His Orchestra ( with an added touch of the 'Spanish Hustle' ) for example.

but for me Perfidia is always best sung in the original Spanish and preferably by Vikki Carr.

I am now going to have a 'Sara Montiel' fest for the rest of the day
    Viva la Diva !
