Oh, dear - shock news has reached us of the unexpected death of one of the great "Queens of Disco", M. Patrick Juvet, aged just 70!

When I first heard funky music, it just blew my mind

Good grief!

Among yet another bizarre assortment of famous fellow celebrants, including Dame Janet Baker, Joe Strummer, Jackie DeShannon, Aubrey Beardsley, Kenny Rogers, Donald Dewar, Dina Carroll, Count Basie, Princess Margaret, Barry Norman, Friz Freleng, Jack Weston, Kim Cattrall, Kelis, King William IV and Usain Bolt, the peculiarly androgynous blonde bombshell [I have commented before: you never saw him and Amanda Lear in the same place] Patrick Juvet is seventy years old today...

Lets wheel the old gal out one more time, shall we, for a ridiculously camp lip-synched performance of his greatest, and most-remembered, hit - and Thank Disco It's Friday!

Lordy. Switzerland's greatest export after chocolate, dodgy banking and cuckoo clocks Monsieur Patrick Juvet is 65 years old today! With his wonderfully flicked "Charlie's Angels" hairdo and his tight trousers, M Juvet conquered the world at the end of the 70s with his mega-hit I Love America, and posters of his visage adorned many a teenage girl's bedroom wall. Then, just as quickly, he disappeared (helped, no doubt, by the fact that everything he did subsequently just sounded soooo similar).

However, to celebrate the imminent arrival of what may well be a sunny weekend, here is the man himself - in this clip (badly out of sync) he's in the kind of groin-hugging outfit that would grace any fashionable Disco stud's wardrobe at the time, no doubt. But here, he's all wrapped up for winter...

Oh, thank heavens for that. It's almost the weekend, and even though it won't be as warm as it has been all this week (ain't that always the case?) we still might be able to get out into the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers and get pottering.

Of course, it won't be anything like as sunny as the location Monsieur Patrick Juvet has chosen as the setting for this most bizarre video for Got a Feeling.

Nor indeed do we necessarily expect a troupe of rictus-grinning dancers clad head-to-foot in hand-made blue and white tight-fitting satinette to come hurtling our way. Unless we're really lucky...
