A smile on your face?

On this grey and gloomy Sunday, with the nights creeping in far too early now that British Summer Time is officially over and the clocks have gone back, I think it's time for another showcase of some of the "newer" choons that have caught my ear of late.

Let's open with something sleazy, shall we? How about a bit of "bump'n'grind", courtesy of Sam Smith and Kim Petras..?

I've always loved the work of master mixer Dave Aude - and here's his latest:

For some bizarre reason Ukrainian pop sensation, the very lovely Max Barskih [see here and here] has just changed his name to "Mick Sunday" - but at least he's producing new music in the midst of all the horror his home nation is suffering. In his own words: "This war brought great changes to my life. Feeling negative emotions and constant stress, you seem to forget about the existence of joy, happiness and love... I hope this music can put a smile on your face and put you in a good mood.” It works!

You just know when you see the name Shapeshifters that you're in for a treat - and with this remake of an old Talking Heads classic, I'm not disappointed!

Finally, how about a sizeable portion of Robbie? Yes please!

As ever, dear reader - let me know your thoughts...

It's a new dawn, it's a new day

I'm off tonight to a tenth anniversary party for two dear friends Joe and Russ. To help me get into the swing of things, how about a clutch of "newer" choons that have caught my ear of late?

First up "the biggie"... This was only released on Friday morning, and has already clocked up 35 million views on YouTube!

By way of complete contrast, let's cheer ourselves up after all that impassioned angst - with a trip to a Disco that happens to be Purple:

Look out, world - Queen Madge is back!

Speaking of stroppy divas - one wonders how the divine former Eunice Kathleen Waymon might have greeted this ramped-up version of one of her biggest hits?

Heavens! I only mentioned them the other day - and now Gandalf and Gollum Tears for Fears are back, with their first new music for twenty years:

Ms Petras is in an apocalyptic mood, it seems...

...while the Nervo girls are feeling "arty":

And finally...

...what happens when Princesses collide?! This:

As ever, dear reader, let me know what you think...

Earworms, again...

Gawd only knows what's going on here, but I could sit and watch it all day

SUNSHINE!!!

The weather out there is glorious - it's predicted to hit 30C tomorrow - and I'm trapped indoors [except for frequent fag breaks, of course] dealing with dull council business. Oh, for a decent Lottery win....

Never mind, eh? I'm in the mood for some music - so how about a soupçon of choons that have caught my ear of late?

First up, a little number that I picked not because the singer is trans [pertinent in this countdown week to Gay/LGBT Pride], and certainly not because of her vocal - ahem - talents, but because... it made me smile [and lord knows, we need a bit of that!]:

Next - a REAL treat! It's the new single from everyone's favourite campsters, Erasure!

Here's a band who sound remarkably like Talking Heads, with a naughtily-titled song (a position with which some of us may be familiar)...

...more sunshine and happiness, courtesy of Mr Sparro and the oddest selection of "safety gays" in the business:

...and, finally - "take it to the mutha-fucking dance floor!"

Enjoy - and as ever, let me know what you think, dear reader.
