Bang, bang, bang

It's a sunny, blustery, chilly autumnal day here in London - a bit of a change, after a burst of "Indian Summer" temperatures on Friday, and a mild (if showery) day yesterday - and Madam Arcati and I are off to the cinema to wallow in sumptuous grandeur courtesy of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale this afternoon.

Meanwhile, I think a collection of some of the "newer" choons that have caught my ear of late is in order:

First up - the ever-wonderful Mael brothers show absolutely no sign of stopping their consistently brilliant musical output [fifty-one years' worth and counting!] - and their new one (featuring performer Self-Esteem, in the video at least) is as superb as ever:

Cranking the party up a notch, a couple of bangers - starting with a bit of a kinky one...

...followed by the return of an old club fave:

How about a mash-up? Yes please! Metallica never sounded so good:

Here's what happens when two fave bands collide:

And, finally, the current house faves de jour!

As ever dear reader, I'd love to know your thoughts...

Niet elke dag is er zonneschijn *

Still coming down to earth from our fab trip to Amsterdam, and today the weather has been "up and down like a whore's drawers" again, so although I managed to do a bit of pottering in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers, it now looks like a real storm is coming in, so that's that.

Time for a little selection of "newer" music that has caught my ear, methinks...

Let's open with something from an old fave group [who have sadly announced that they are calling it quits after 35 years together] - with a rather (ahem) appealing video:

Speaking of "old faves", here's a man who knows what he wants!

Another video that rather caught my eye... [Song's not bad, either.]

Now for something completely different - it's one of our [recently featured] Dutch Patron Saints, with a completely new face!

Another jolly one we "collected" on holiday in Amsterdam - with what else but a video dedicated to pizza(?):

From the ridiculous... to the utterly bonkers! I love this [somewhat reminiscent of Cyndi Lauper, which is no bad thing in my book]:

And, saving the best to last - this!

As ever, let me know your thoughts, dear reader...

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

I was pleasantly surprised that despite the dire forecast, it was mostly bright and warm enough to spend a productive day in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers, washing more skanky pots, emptying others of dead plants, and potting-on the burgeoning new ones. The only thing that marred it was the sad news of the death of the faboo Barry Humphries/Dame Edna Everage.

Comme d'habitude, it was Radio 2 all day - and here are a couple of stand-out tracks they played!

From Rylan's show, an 80s classic that I have always loved, but (to my chagrin) have never featured here before...

...and from Liza Tarbuck, one that's completely new to me (yet is actually from 2017), Confidence Man - Boyfriend:

Spring's a lovely (if busy) time of year!

Hypno-tiz-ed

Few among my beloved audience noticed my last selection, it would appear, but undaunted as I am - here is another random assortment of "newer" choons that have caught my ear of late!

First up, Our Princess Kylie's latest, a rather faboo track from her Disco: Guest List Edition [which, incidentally, landed her the accolade of being the first female artist to have a number one album in five consecutive decades]:

Next up - this "summer anthem" [well, it was actually released last November, but the band's performance at Glastonbury got them noticed] has been clogging-up the airwaves lately here in the long, hot summer in the UK! Understandably...

Heavens, this "80s-style" mix is so much better than the original! They eununciated things far better in those days, of course - poor Ms Lipa evidently cannot pronounce any consonants:

Here's an irresistable oddity - not new at all [it was actually released in 2017, and apparently featured in an advert for an Apple iPhone], but new to me - courtesy of Paddy O'Connell, sitting in for Liza Tarbuck on BBC Radio 2 today:

By way of a complete contrast, as part of his own celebration of 25 years in the business [cf Geri and the Spice Girls, as featured yesterday] the lovely Robbie Williams is back with a new single:

And, saving the best for last - a "national treasure", with a most remarkable earworm...

As ever, let me know your thoughts, dear reader...

Might be over now, but I feel it still

Two very happy fuchsias - Viva Ireland (foreground) and Bella Lydia .

Remarkably, the weather has again surprised us on a weekend. Just as everything was feeling gloomy and dank (which is customary, as Bonfire Night nears) with cuttingly chilly winds and a distinctly wintry air, so today the wind dropped, and it was almost balmy in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers. [Would ya believe, I actually found greenfly massed on the stems of some of our plants? In November!]

Methinks I should share some recent hits of a jolly nature that have caught my ear, to suit the mood...

Faboo!
