It's grey, it's grey since she went away, oh, oh

Our lovely Hippeastrum “Cape Horn” has been outside all winter, and evidently came to no harm

It was another beautiful Spring day today, and the chilly wind of earlier this week had completely dropped - so, obviously I spent most of it in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers. The last of the summer annuals-filled window-boxes and a wall pot are done. I moved-on a few more plants in little pots into bigger ones, then began the task of tackling the moth-eaten overwintered large-leaf salvia collection, which have all exhausted the soil they were in. More tomorrow, no doubt - and then hopefully everything will be ready for the summer "jungle" display. Once we get back from Spain, It will be time to do the "Tetris" task of placing the gazillions of pots into the best location for them to thrive and look their best [of course, everything's covered in a coat of flowers and detritus from the bastard weed trees at the moment; there's not a season when they don't give us grief]...

Meanwhile, sad news - Mademoiselle Evy Lenton, lead singer of the camp-as-tits one-hit-wonders La Belle Époque has donned her last glittery jacket and ascended the dry-ice strewn staircase to Fabulon, at - gulp - the age of 80.

It's obvious what to play in tribute, of course, really, since they only ever had one hit:

Love it!

RIP, Évelyne "Evy" Lenton (born Evelyn Verrecchia, 16th December 1945 - 22nd April 2026)

It's grey, it's grey

Hoorah! A much-needed weekend hoves into view.

I'm off to John-John's tomorrow for a mammoth catch-up/binge-watch of the second series of Wednesday, and I can't wait for that...

...but meanwhile, let's don our gold skintight spandex jeans, grab a sparkly top, and boogie with La Belle Epoque!

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a great weekend, peeps!

It's grey, it's grey

The day is dragging, even slower than the rest of this dank and gloomy week...

However, there's a weekend to look forward to, "our gang" has another "Film Show" gathering tomorrow (which should be sober fun - ahem), and I have managed to completely avoid this "Black Friday" nonsense.

Speaking of "black", however - let's dispense with the gloom, and Thank Disco It's Friday in the company of the uber-talented Belle Epoque!

Black is black
I want my baby back
It's grey
It's grey
Since he went a-way o - o

What can I do
'Cause I
I'm feeling blue
If I had my way
He'd be back today
But he don't intend
To see me a-gain o - o

What can I do
'Cause I
I'm feeling blue
I can't choose

It's too much to lose
My love's too strong
May be if he
Would come back to me
Then it can't go wrong

Black is black
I want my baby back
It's grey
It's grey
Since he went a-way o - o

What can I do
'Cause I
I'm feeling blue
'Cause I
I'm feeling blue

Actually, I'm not feeling blue at all.

Have a good weekend, dear reader!

It's grey, It's grey, since he went a-way o-o!

This week has roared on by, thank heavens.

So here we are again, squeezing into our skin-tight lamé trousers and bat-wing chiffon, accompanied by the addictive sound of Belle Epoque... let's Thank Disco It's Friday!

Oh, Johnny, Oh!

By far the weirdest story of the past week is the saga of French superstar Johnny Hallyday.

In November, he went to hospital for an operation on a slipped disc. The operation went badly and he ended up with a life-threatening infection in his spine. Doctors in the US put him into a "medically-induced coma" (who knew such a thing was a valid medical procedure?) until today, when he has apparently woken after further corrective surgery. And in the strangest twist of all his surgeon was violently attacked - but no-one knows if this was the work of a deranged fan...

Mr Hallyday certainly has a huge army of fanatics out there - not for nothing is he nicknamed "the French Elvis". This year was meant to signal his "farewell tour" after fifty years of performing, 400 tours, 18 platinum albums and more than 100 million records sold! Even President Sarkozy is a fan... Yet this iconic figure has never had a hit outside his native France.

Here are a few examples of the great man's talents. Get well soon, Johnny!
