Let the fun begin

By the time you see this, dear reader, we should be in a taxi - on our way to assume our positions, centre stage, for this year's Gay Xmas festivities!

Only one more thing to play now - as always, it's our traditional anthem:

Happy Gay Pride, dear reader! Don't do anything I wouldn't do [which isn't a lot, to be honest]...

A little touch of sin - why wait another minute?

It's today - Happy Gay Pride!!!

So let's Bring On The Men (as always - it's traditional!)...

There was a time
I don't know when
I didn't have much time for men
But this is now and that was then, I'm learning

A girl alone, all on her own
Must try to have a heart of stone
So I try not to make it known my yearning
I try to show I have no need
I really do, I don't succeed

So let´s bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute?
Step this way, its time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men

I always knew, I always said
Silk and lace in black and red
Will drive a man right off his head, its easy

So many men, so little time
I want them all, is that a crime (NO!)
I don't know why they say that I'm too easy
They make me laugh, they make me cry
They make me sick, so god knows why

We say bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute
Step this way its time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men

They break your heart
They steal your soul
Take you apart
And yet they somehow make you whole
So what's their game?
I suppose a rose by any other name
The perfume and the prick's the same

I like to have a man for breakfast each day
I'm very social and I like it that way
By late mid-morning I need something to munch
So I ask over two men for lunch

And men are mad about my afternoon "tease".
They're quite informal I just do it to please
Those triple sandwiches are my favourite ones
I must admit, I'm partial to buns

My healthy appetite gets strongest at night
My at-home dinners are my men friends' delight
When I invite the fellas over to dine
They all come early, in bed by nine!

So lets bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute?
Step this way, it's time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men!

Enjoy the day, whatever you get up to (or who)!

And let the fun begin...

Yes, it's Gay Pride Day!! Yayyyyyy!!

Only one more song to play, really (it's traditional):

Saturday, 1 July 2023

So let's waste no more time

It's (Gay) Christmaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!! [Thank you, Noddy Holder]

As you read this, dear chums, we will no doubt be in a taxi on our way to Our Sal's pub for the tradtional Pride breakfast before winging our way to Green Park tube station to go and watch the parade on Piccadilly, dressed in all our sparkling purple finery and OTT hats!

It's going to be a helluva party - and there's only one way to start it, as is traditional here at Dolores Delargo Towers!

So let's bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute?

Step this way it's time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So let's waste no more time
Bring on the men!

...and let the fun begin!

By the time you see this, dear reader, Madam Acarti, Baby Steve, Houseboy Alex and I should already be in an Addison Lee cab on our way to Our Sal's pub The Shaston Arms in the West End for our traditional bacon-butties-and-champagne breakfast, and get our outfits sorted - for it is indeed the first Gay Pride in London for three years today!!

There's only our traditional anthem left to play...

Have a great Pride day/weekend!

Thank you very, very, very much!

Another day, another new addition to Fabulon, the "Valhalla of the Stars" - the multi-talented Bea Lillie protégé, composer, lyricist and playwright Mr Leslie Bricusse.

Most famous for his long professional partnership with fellow "triple threat" Anthony Newley, the mass of "standards" in the great man's repertoire include Nina Simone's Feeling Good [a version of which I posted just the other day], What Kind of Fool Am I?, The Joker [used later as the theme song for Kath & Kim], The Candy Man and Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, London Is London, A Wonderful Day Like Today, Talk to the Animals, Who Can I Turn To?...

...and these!

...and our "Gay Pride March" anthem, to boot!

RIP, Leslie Bricusse OBE (29th January 1931 – 19th October 2021)

It's Gay Xmas...

...and I still can't decide which "look" to go for!

Yes, I know the whole bloody shebang is cancelled, but a girl can dream. It's probably just as well we're not all congregating in the centre of town, dressed to the nines (pandemic or no pandemic), as after a week of searing temperatures, it's pissing down out there.

Our gang is congregating much more safely and comfortably via Zoom this evening, so to get us in the mood, a few of our anthems to remind us of what we're missing, methinks.

It's traditional:

It's - erm...

It's a classic:

HAPPY GAY PRIDE!!

Enjoy - whatever you do and however you do it...

A little touch of sin

Darlings! By the time you read this, we are more than likely en route to Our Sal's pub off Carnaby Street for the "gathering of the clans" - for it is GAY XMAS today!

There is only one song to play - it is a tradition:

Happy Gay Pride!

Happy Pride!

So let's waste no more time

Happy Gay Xmas, everyone!

We're off to the West End, with hats, sparkles, flags, booze and bacon butties in tow, to join the vast, chaotic extravaganza that is Gay Pride!

It's a tradition round these parts to play our "anthem" Bring on the Men on this day of days. And here it is, with a kinky performance by a troupe called Circ X...

So let's bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute?

Step this way it's time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So let's waste no more time
Bring on the men!

Gay Xmas!

It's here...

Happy Gay Xmas, everyone! We're off to London Gay Pride, resplendent in shocking pink, one and all, and look forward to a sparkling parade through the heart of the West End - in the company of...ummmm...one or two others.

As is traditional, here's our usual send-off anthem, here sung (unconventionally) by a man - take it away, Mr Josh Young, and let's Bring On The Men!

[Apparently Broadway Backwards is an annual (charity) celebration where gays and lesbians see their stories told through the great songs of musical theatre, sung by their favourite Broadway performers. Sounds fun to me!]

And let the fun begin

It's arrived...

We're off to Gay Pride - to drink champers, primp up our outfits, mince through the centre of London with heads held high, and have a great laugh!

To start us off, we always have to play our Pride anthem, and here to sing it for us is the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington (featuring a soloist with a most appropriate name Sherman Blow) - Bring On The Men!

Step this way, its time for us to play!

HAPPY GAY XMAS!!!

Come wind, rain, inept organisers, homophobes in Westminster Council, bollocks in the press, religions who hate us, countries that want to kill us - and in acknowledgement of everything we have had to face through the years - this is our day, and we're going to have a ball...

Although this year's World Pride "unofficial anthem" may well have already been well and truly bagged by the fantabulosa Scissor Sisters and Let's Have A Kiki, our gang has our own special anthem we always play at this time of year...

Bring On The Men, indeed!

[PS we have even greater cause to celebrate today - as it appears the Ukraine's proposed anti-gay legislation has been cancelled thanks to world outrage!!

Let the fun begin with a bang for gay rights!]

Xmas Eve is here...

We were without interweb connection here at Dolores Delargo Towers for 48 hours till this evening, and Mama's not happy.

Anyway, Happy Gay Xmas Eve, everybody - and let us without further ado launch into some of the most appropriate "family favourites" to launch the celebrations with a bang!

Opening with the best song never to have been played on radio ever, it can only be the fabulous Modern Rocketry, and Homosexuality ["Yes, Sir!]:

Next - our mother Divine, and her whip...

Sabrina and her dancing twins...

Miss Raffaella Carra with a twist:

A Sex Bomb (of course):

And of course we have to play it - it's traditional...

...here's a fab kinky cabaret version of our enduring favourite and annual anthem for Gay Pride!

Whatever you do this Gay Xmas, ENJOY!!!

... and let the fun begin!

The countdown to Gay Pride continues, and I always have to play our "anthem" every time.

So this year, I thought I'd feature a version of that very tune, Bring On The Men, as performed by "Miss Burl Esq" at San Fransico's annual "King of Boylesque" pageant. Described as "a no holds barred burlesquing of traditional beauty pageants, bringing together eight of the top male performers from the nation", it sounds like a fantastic event I reckon... Enjoy!

"A little touch of sin - why wait another minute?"

Today it is the birthday of the fabulous Linda Eder, showbiz singer and Broadway star. Not an overly familiar name in this country, maybe, but it gives me the perfect excuse to post one of our favourite songs - her ultimate show-stopper, and our recurring theme song for Gay Pride....

Please forgive the strange "anime" video - just Bring On The Men and let the fun begin!

Bring on the Men!

So only a few more days to go before Pride, and out of the blue I discover this little moment of genius...
