We're So Lovely

To alleviate the slings and arrows of what has been a bit of a gruelling week so far - what with the untypical 35-40C temperatures that swept over London on Monday and, particularly, Tuesday, and work, which has been a bastard - it is an opportune moment, methinks, for a little exploration of some of the "newer" musical discoveries that have caught my ear of late...

...and now that Auntie Beeb has unceremoniously dispensed with fave radio shows such as Ana Matronic's, I have even had to resort to discovering a lot of these all by myself! Such as......

...a camp little Pride number (albeit a tad late for our own London celebrations):

A rather catchy (and very welcome) return to form from a "house fave" band:

A couple of "classical" numbers that might be more familiar than one might expect:

And now for something completely different. As the video's blurb says - "What if Gypsy Woman was released five years earlier, in 1987...in Italy?".It's brilliantly done:

Now, saving the best to last...

Can a dance choon and video get any gayer?!

...and then there's this - the very, very welcome return of those honorary members of the homosexualist Royal Family, French and Saunders Keren and Sarah!

As ever, dear reader - let me know your thoughts...

STOP PRESS:

I forgot to include this one...

Music, music, music...

It's time for another pick of the newer music that I have stumbled across on my sojourn across the interwebs...

Opening this particular mish-mash, we bid a very welcome back to one of my fave bands of the early 80s, the quirky and superb Blancmange:

A little noisy stuff is in order next methinks, courtesy of Panic! At The Disco:

Here at Dolores Delargo Towers we have always had a thing about buccaneers. And now, thanks to the delightful Mike over at Pop Trash Addicts, we are alerted to an apparent "internet sensation" - Cosmo Jarvis and his Gay Pirates!

Next up the return of that faboo quirky cult dance act Hercules and Love affair with their latest mix...

And now, a pairing made in gay heaven! The magnificent Billie Ray Martin and that massive Italian superstar Hard Ton:

But to finish, I have to add a heap of campness that - to coin a phrase - is "gayer than Liberace and Elton John in a pink Mini"! For none other than the gorgeous Dana International has re-joined the Eurovision throng, singing Israel's official entry this year...

[Thanks, John-John]

It's time to celebrate

Ah, it is time for a celebration methinks! Time to crack open the champagne...

p> ...for tonight I have finally completed the transfer - manually I might add! - of (just about) every single one of the blogs I had posted on the benighted former social network known nowadays as My_______ [sic] to Blogger.

YAY!!!!

That is no mean achievement, especially since I was posting blogs daily (sometimes more than once a day) since the beginning of 2007 - 1400 in all...

So, to help us enjoy this very special occasion, and in the spirit of weirdness and campery that is our tradition - I have assembled some of our "very best in-house entertainers" here at Dolores Delargo Towers to play just for you.

Take it away boys and girls!

Sharmila Tagore, sung by Sharda - Leja leja leja mera dil [from An Evening in Paris, 1967]

You're welcome.

The biggest disco queen of the 21st century

Good grief! Now this is one weird artiste... A bastard love-child of Alexei Sale and Leigh Bowery, Hard Ton is a fantabulosa slab of Italo Disco weirdness! My first thought was "now I know where that GaGa woman gets all her inspiration from". My second thought was "I thought Divine was dead". Enjoy...
