The Devil in Miss Bosé

It's been a gloriously sunny and warm Bank Holiday for a change, and I've spent another exhausting day in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers - potting-on loads of otherwise neglected plants (and a few of the newer ones we purchased at The Gardening Club yesterday) into fresh compost; I barely scraped the surface, to be honest, as there are still dozens yet to go...

I haven't forgotten, however, that it is a Tacky Music (Easter) Monday! With only a few weeks to go till our next Spanish holiday, let's revisit one of our faves from that country.

Miguel Bosé (for it is he) is a megastar in Spain, with 21 albums, roles in more than 35 films (including Pedro Almodovar's High Heels and the award-winning French film La Reine Margot) and his own television show. His father was one of the country's top bullfighters Luis Miguel González Lucas, and his mother Lucia Bosé was a renowned Italian actress, who counted Luchino Visconti and Pablo Picasso among her friends. From that promising start it was obvious that Miguel was destined for a life in the spotlight.

Of course the fact that he was cute must have helped. The fact that he's also as gay as a handbag full of rainbows probably helped too - I expect it made his mum proud, if not his dad!

In this season, what could be more appropriate than his mega-hit - about The Devil [the cover version of which by Las Seventies remains one of our all-time faves]?

Scarily, Señorita Bosé celebrated his 70th birthday on Friday!

Have a good week, dear reader.

Ambiguo?

Just a few more hours to go, and the laptop can be snapped shut for another sixteen days - we're off to Spain at the crack'o'doom tomorrow morning for a (hopefully sunny) week on the Costa del Sol, followed by another week off just to potter... Yay!

To round off the countdown nicely, here's an old fave. Miguel Bosé (for it is he) is so amazingly popular in Spain he has produced not one, but two albums of his hits, re-recorded in duets with estimable international superstars such as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Fangoria, Ivete Sangalo, Michael Stipe from R.E.M. and even Penelope Cruz. When he started out, he was a heartthrob teen idol - in the same vein of David Cassidy or Leif Garrett - and, like so many pretty poster-boys, has subsequently "admitted to being bisexual". Cough. Cough.

When I first featured this particular number back in 2010, I said: "...one of the campest dance routines in the world! Madam Arcati reckons he reminds him of Anita Harris." Ha! I'll let you be the judge of that, dear reader - Gracias Disco ¡Es viernes!

That could just as easily been one of our "Tacky Music Monday" treats, to be honest...

Have a good weekend, peeps - we certainly will!

A Spaniard shoots

It's the last day of work before our holiday, dear reader. Once the work laptop closes at 4pm, I won't be opening it again for another ten days!

Let's start the celebrations with one of España's finest gay-not-gay entertainers, the (once) gorgeous Señor Miguel Bosé [who is so amazingly popular in Spain he has produced not one, but two albums of his hits, re-recorded in duets with estimable international superstars such as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Fangoria, Ivete Sangalo, Michael Stipe from R.E.M. and even Penelope Cruz] - and ¡Gracias Disco es viernes!

He's been shot up the back a few times, no doubt...

Los hombres se preguntan ¿para quien sera?

Week Thirteen (unlucky for some) of working from home begins - and I'm here until September so better get used to it!

The weather is lovely out there again - sob, sob, since I am stuck at this desk - so, to cheer us on on this Tacky Music Monday, let's pay a little visit to sunny Spain [I wish!] again, in the company of the not-gay-at-all Señorita Miguel Bosé, wiggling his tush and "flirting" with the lay-deez...

¡Ten una buena semana, amigos!

El Brexit?

It's Brexit Day! - and ironically, we're packing for our annual pilgrimage to sunny Spain tomorrow. Actually, not so ironic, as just about everyone in the bars on "our bit" of the the Costa del Sol is British anyway. Even our regular haunt, a Dutch bar, is well stocked with all the red-top tabloids and a telly showing league football...

Never mind all that, as the clock ticks down on my final half-day in the benighted office, I am definitely in the mood for a celebration - and who better to lead it than the lovely Miguel Bosé?

¡Gracias disco es viernes!

Have a good weekend, peeps. We're looking forward to a whole week!!

Chica-chica-bum-cheek

It's the end of a horrible week, yet... it's pay day(!), it's warming up (although with rain forecast), we have friends popping in tomorrow night for a few bevvies for an early celebration of Madam Arcati's birthday, and - we're in Spain a week tomorrow!

Just one more week...

Typically, I always love to have a countdown to exciting events, and that especially means holidays! So let us begin with one of España's finest gay-not-gay entertainers, the (once) gorgeous Señor Miguel Bosé - who has (unsurprisingly) featured here before - with the disco-tastic Shoot Me in the Back from 1979. [He apparently admits to being bisexual (ha ha)...]

Don diablo que es muy cuco

Another working week is too soon upon us, and I am not ready for it yet - bleurrggh!

On this Tacky Music Monday, let us revisit a favourite discovery from Spain - I first featured him back in February - Snr Miguel Bosé, and our favourite track of his...

Papito!

From yesterday's blog about Matadors, we turn to the famous son of one.

Miguel Bosé is a megastar in Spain, with 21 albums, roles in more than 35 films (including Pedro Almodovar's High Heels and the award-winning French film La Reine Margot) and his own television show. His father was one of the country's top bullfighters Luis Miguel González Lucas, and his mother Lucia Bosé is a renowned Italian actress, who counted Luchino Visconti and Pablo Picasso among her friends. This must be one of the campest dance routines in the world! Madam Arcati reckons he reminds him of Anita Harris. We are rehearsing this as I speak...

A shining example of 70s fashion, this would be a great candidate for a Tacky Music Monday...

And here he is with the original version of one of our favourite recent Spanish hits (covered last year by the marvellous Las Seventies), Don Diablo:
