Let the fun begin

By the time you see this, dear reader, we should be in a taxi - on our way to assume our positions, centre stage, for this year's Gay Xmas festivities!

Only one more thing to play now - as always, it's our traditional anthem:

Happy Gay Pride, dear reader! Don't do anything I wouldn't do [which isn't a lot, to be honest]...

A little touch of sin - why wait another minute?

It's today - Happy Gay Pride!!!

So let's Bring On The Men (as always - it's traditional!)...

There was a time
I don't know when
I didn't have much time for men
But this is now and that was then, I'm learning

A girl alone, all on her own
Must try to have a heart of stone
So I try not to make it known my yearning
I try to show I have no need
I really do, I don't succeed

So let´s bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute?
Step this way, its time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men

I always knew, I always said
Silk and lace in black and red
Will drive a man right off his head, its easy

So many men, so little time
I want them all, is that a crime (NO!)
I don't know why they say that I'm too easy
They make me laugh, they make me cry
They make me sick, so god knows why

We say bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute
Step this way its time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men

They break your heart
They steal your soul
Take you apart
And yet they somehow make you whole
So what's their game?
I suppose a rose by any other name
The perfume and the prick's the same

I like to have a man for breakfast each day
I'm very social and I like it that way
By late mid-morning I need something to munch
So I ask over two men for lunch

And men are mad about my afternoon "tease".
They're quite informal I just do it to please
Those triple sandwiches are my favourite ones
I must admit, I'm partial to buns

My healthy appetite gets strongest at night
My at-home dinners are my men friends' delight
When I invite the fellas over to dine
They all come early, in bed by nine!

So lets bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute?
Step this way, it's time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men!

Enjoy the day, whatever you get up to (or who)!

Only one more song to play, really (it's traditional):

When you pinch me try to pinch me where there's fat

The office beckons..

Oh, FFS. It's Monday again! How did that happen?

Never mind, eh? It's Fergie's birthday today [no, not that one - the one with the Black Eyed Peas], and, on this Tacky Music Monday, I think we deserve a boost of brilliant choreography featuring said lady to perk us up!

But there's more places to go with this, bien sûr...

...and, inevitably, the classic:

Have a good week, dear reader.

Mama's Day!

On this Mothering Sunday, I thought nothing less than a triple-bill of tributes would do!

Of course, here at Dolores Delargo Towers, we do like our tributes to come with a twist...

Have a great day, all you mothers out there!

Totty of the Season

Ramon Novarro (6th February 1899 – 30th October 1968)

Damian Lewis (50 on 11th February)

Tom Hiddleston (40 years old on 9th February)

Chris Mears MBE (diver, born 7th February 1993)

Ralf Little (born 8th February 1980)

Cristiano Ronaldo (born 5th February 1985)

James Dean (who would have been 90 on 8th February)

Well, that's cheered up a cold, sleety Sunday!

As has this...

Cork, well and truly popped

The Big Spender number from Sweet Charity is, and will always be an iconic showpiece of the film musical genre; a shining moment in one of my favourite films of all time, indeed.

However, this is what happens on a Tacky Music Monday when we let our houseboys loose on it - the results are quite something!

Have a good week, dear reader.

I don't care for wearin' silk cravats, ruby studs, satin spats

It's cold and frosty again, and we at Dolores Delargo Towers are getting heartily sick of it. The garden looks like something Queen Jadis would recognise, and we can only keep our fingers crossed that some of our "treasures" (such as Salvia "Amistad" and our less robust fuchsias) survive...

However, as we make weary preparation to slide off to work, there are some things worth celebrating - not least the fact that it is our Patron Saint Chita Rivera's (84th) birthday today. And on this Tacky Music Monday, we have a corker of a performance from the great lady!

Señorita Rivera was the star of the show in 2016's Broadway Backwards LGBT charity gala - where men sing songs originally written for women and vice versa - and, on this Tacky Music Monday, here she is as "Billy Flynn" (Chicago's smarmy anti-hero), with All I Care About is Love:

What a trouper!

Dolores Conchita Figueroa del Rivero (born 23rd January 1933)

Have a good one, dear reader...

Whatever you do

Today is Mothering Sunday here in the UK.

We spent yesterday with ours, and to celebrate here's a message from Alan Cumming that sums up many of my sentiments on this special day...
