Flattery, indeed

Today is National Women's Day in South Africa.

One of that country's most famous exports (despite her having actually been born in Mumbai) was the late, great Juliet Prowse.

So let's use that excuse to cheer ourselves up, as we mourn the demise of the Great British Heatwave of 2018 (it's been pissing down today, and the temperatures are more or less back to normal for this time of year), with a clip of the great lady herself, dancing with the eternally sexy Sal Mineo!

Any spurious and convoluted excuse to feature gyrating sexy young totty? Moi?

Of course.

I'm gonna get up, I'm gonna get out...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

It's still dark, I am still half asleep - and it's time to go back to work...

I think Juliet Prowse sums up the mood:

Sigh.

The legs have it

Sharing, as she does, a birthday with such unlikely bedfellows as Heather Locklear, Dmitry Shostakovich, Ronnie Barker, Silvana Pampanini, Michael Douglas, Mark Rothko, Pedro Almodovar, Christopher Reeve, Fletcher Christian, William Faulkner, Will Smith, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jodie Kidd and Mark Hamill, the late, great Miss Juliet Prowse provides us with the perfect way to shake off those blues and get ourselves ready for another week of tedium...

Have a good one, dearies!

In the land of the dreamy scenes

Today's birthay girl Miss Juliet Prowse, the exotic Anglo-Indian beauty who first graced the screens in Can-Can and went on to appear in many roles and performances alongside the likes of Frank Sinatra (to whom she was briefly engaged), Elvis, Sal Mineo, Dean Martin, Carol Burnett and Elaine Stritch as well as her own Vegas shows, died far too young at 59.

Had she lived, she would no doubt have taken her place alongside other va-va-voom entertainers as Ann-Margret and Shirley MacLaine in showbiz history. We love her!

Let's celebrate the lady in her prime - in a set-piece routine that would be very much at home on one of our "Tacky Music Mondays" here at Dolores Delargo Towers. Here's the leggy lady herself in all her glory, with Way Down Yonder In New Orleans:

Some life cleaner than this

It's wet, it's autumn and it's Monday. Three things to make everyone miserable.

So, to cheer ourselves up on this Tacky Music Monday before another soul-destroying week in the office, what better than a tryptych of razzle-dazzle numbers - Hey Big Spender, There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This [so true!] and If They Could See Me Now - by those fabulous hoofers Miss Juliet Prowse (who would have been 76 years old tomorrow; RIP) and Miss Chita Rivera?!

As ever, enjoy!

Autumn leaves

Slightly mixed moods today, as we're getting excited about our holiday, yet tonight there's yet another leaving do - and this time it's our good friend Maria being made redundant after twelve years...

Optimism vs sadness, style vs substance - it's the age old conundrum!
