A karmic punishment

The prime minister has asked the public if they really believe that he, a 62-year-old man who has spent his life in the legal profession, is a keen Swiftie.

Starmer pointed out that three-and-a-half hours of the Eras Tour was not and has never been his idea of an enjoyable evening and he would have much preferred to closely read policy documents before getting an early night.

He said: “I am a man of conviction. I am not a pathetic millennial man pretending mediocre country songwriting is ‘genius’ to impress Tinder dates.

“Do you seriously believe humming tunelessly along to songs I was entirely unfamiliar with while calculating how long it would take to get from Wembley to Downing Street was anything other than a dreary political duty?

“These tickets were not a gift. They were a karmic punishment. I admit I harboured hopes that a blue-light police escort might impart the virtues of alacrity to Ms Swift, but instead she added an extra medley to her acoustic set.

“When you’re in my position, watching Taylor Swift is like going to the Cenotaph Remembrance service. I’m not particularly excited to be there, but the tabloids will give me shit if I skip it.

“Now, if I’d been treated to VIP tickets to Kidderminster’s Museum of Carpet I would understand why the corruption alarm bells were ringing.”

Hardcore crones

Taylor Swift does not represent us, says League of Spinsters

Childless cat-owning women have decried Taylor Swift as not representative of their wizened, child-scaring community.

Hardcore crones, with as many as 16 feral felines in shadowy homes which they only leave to shout at the young, say they have been fighting for women’s bodily autonomy longer than any stripling of a 34-year-old.

86-year-old spinster Margaret Gerving said: “Well pardon me for having progressive views while cackling in a rocking chair. We can’t all have toned pins and sell out global stadium tours, you know.

“Swift barely has a wrinkle, has a mere three cats and far from being single and unwanted, she’s entertained a string of gentleman callers and is currently seeing a footballer. She doesn’t even know we prefer to be called crazy cat ladies.”

Susan Traherne, aged 90, agreed: “If I endorsed Kamala Harris it would carry some weight, what with my average weekly shop being 60 tins of Felix and a single loaf of bread. Those are heavyweight credentials.

“But her? Does her audience really care why she did this, or do they blindly like her Instagram post because she can belt out a tune in a skimpy outfit? I’m bitterly cynical by nature after my fiancé left me at the altar in 1954, but I’m inclined to believe the latter.”

She added: “I see Elon Musk has offered to impregnate her. He says the same to me every day. But when he’s in cat form.”

A robot that couldn’t even be arsed

Taylor Swift’s new song does not have deeper levels and is just a shit thing, it has been confirmed.

The singer’s latest release Look What You Made Me Do has prompted widespread speculation about hidden layers of meaning within its lyrical and visual content. However experts have confirmed it is simply shit.

Professor Henry Brubaker of the Institute for Studies said: “Is Swift swiping at some mysterious enemies, or rather reinventing herself as some classical archetype of the warlike goddess figure?

“Is this a piece of modern situationist art that toys with notions of identity and presents consumerist clichés in a smart post-modern way?

“It’s hard to say but I can definitely tell you it’s shit. Really, really shit. Like it was made by a robot, but a robot that couldn’t even be arsed.”

Responding to the song’s massive Youtube success, Brubaker said: “Well it has got sexy girls in it. You may not have noticed but internet users seem to respond quite well to that.”
