Current mood...

...HOT!

It's another scorcher out there - and we know a song about that, don't we, children?

Bamba, Baby!

Grrr. The last place I want to be is out of bed, setting up the work laptop again...

Never mind, eh? It's a short week for me, as I have booked Thursday and Friday off - just for the sake of it. It also happens to be the birthday of one of our fave 50s sexpots (and former Mrs Xavier Cugat), Miss Abbe Lane, who is 88 years old today. Who better to provide a wake-up call this Tacky Music Monday? - even if her costume changes in this performance do remind one of opening a tin of Quality Street (it's always the gold caramels that are left till last!)...

Lovely.

Have a good, week, dear reader.

Malaga, Malaga, Malaga

We may knit our own beach-wear this year

It's the opening day of a new year, and a new decade - but some things never change here at Dolores Delargo Towers. We do love to start as we mean to go on, and - with exactly a month to go till we jet off to Spain again for Madam Arcati's birthday - a bit of Latina loveliness is always welcome!

As today happens to be the 120th anniversary of the birth of one of our cherished jolly Latin bandleaders Xavier Cugat, what better way to celebrate with his own tribute to the fair city of Malaga?

Happy New Year, dear reader!

New Year, new Cha-Cha-Cha

Cheers!

Happy New Hangover, peeps!

We hosted a marvellous party to usher in 2018, (hopefully) blasted the upstairs neighbours into submission until the wee small hours, and, having had a good lie-in (thank heavens for earplugs as the Demon Spawn were crashing around early again), we're having a hearty breakfast of gin...

Start as you mean to go on, I say.

Speaking of which - it may be New Year's Day, but it also happens to be a Tacky Music Monday. It's also mambo maestro Xavier Cugat's birthday, so what better to wake us up than with a faboo Latin medley featuring his sassy ex-wife Abbe Lane..?

A good note on which to enter 2018, methinks!

Abbe days are here again

Another day, another dollar... It's back to work time again, and on this damp dark morning that's the very last place I want to be.

On this Tacky Music Monday, what we all need is a touch of the exotic - and yesterday's birthday girl Abbe Lane (together with then hubby Xavier Cugat), in glorious lurid Technicolour, is just the person to provide it!

Have a good week, folks - it's only another six days till the days start getting longer again!

Horror and Abbe

Bugger. The weekend flew by - a birthday party, a day of monging about the house, and it's over...

To help ease our weary bones back into the stifling confines of the office, on this Tacky Music Monday let's welcome one of Xavier Cugat's wives Miss Abbe Lane (who celebrated her 80th birthday last month), and her South American Medley!

Try your best to have a good week, peeps!

Cookin' with gas...

It's a New Year, that began with a party and fireworks, and we have high hopes that 2012 will provide us with lots of change (in a good way, of course).

And here at Dolores Delargo Towers, we begin the year with our first Tacky Music Monday!

Yesterday would have been the 112th birthday of the magnificent Xavier Cugat, so what better way to start but as we mean to go on - with a triple bill of his wonderfully uplifting music?

Here he is featuring the effervescent Lina Romay:

Here with our "patron saint" Carmen Miranda:

And to finish, here he provides the music for his wife #4, Miss Abbe Lane:

Fantabulosa!

She certainly can can can

On this Tacky Music Monday, I am hungover after our long and drunken picnic, and there is only one cure!

Laydeez 'n' gentlemen, (former Mrs Xavier Cugat) Miss Abbe Lane and The Tom Hansen Dancers... Enjoy!

Whew.
