Spangled

Gratutous flag-wearing totty time again...

Hell...

After the most splendid "Gay Xmas" weekend, it all comes crashing to earth with a bump, courtesy of that most unwelcome of words: Work.

Never mind, eh? The flag-waving, firework-lighting celebrations of the departure of one of its colonies from Her Majesty's Empire are afoot, which gives us a wide range of options for this Tacky Music Monday!

I've settled on an old, old favourite for the occasion...

In the immortal words of dear old Oscar Wilde: "America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up."

Have a good week, dear reader.

Gawd Bless...

Gratuitous picture of a random hunk with a flag - obligatory in these circumstances, methinks.

Over here, we're celebrating a rare event - British (well, English, anyhow) success in a World-class sporting event.

Across the pond, they're letting off fireworks to celebrate a revolution that preceded France's.

As ever, I am loathe to celebrate the loss of a chunk of our dear, beloved British Empire (genuflect, genuflect) - but, as we are in party mood in the continuing countdown to Gay Xmas, how about we salute our former colony with a bit of Poppycock..?

Hooray, indeed!

A spangled star

Apparently our American chums are celebrating some kind of bloody revolution across the pond today. Being a child of the Empire I can only agree with dear old Oscar Wilde: "America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up."

However, in deference to the tea-deniers in the ex-colonies, here is something rather special to celebrate!

Loathe as I do any of these horrible talent shows - this is worth it...
