It's the place to do your own thing, hey, hey

Oh, thank goodness. It may have only been a short week thanks to the Festering Season, but it has dragged...

Now we have a much-deserved weekend to look forward to - and tomorrow we're off to the panto (oh, yes, we are!) - and what better way to begin the celebrations than this? Let's get our best canary-yellow feathery tasselly number from the back of the wardrobe, and practice our moves (like the safety gays shimmying along) with the delightful Ritchie Family!

Have a good one, dear reader!

La la la la la la

This week has dragged...

However, the weekend looms - a busy one, as well; I am going to see Ant Man: Quantumania tonight, then tomorrow our gang's heading to Wilton's Music Hall for a rip-roaring Great British Comedy Songbook piano singalong - so it's time to get the party started!

What better than the combination of one of the era's campest girl groups, a samba classic, and a troupe of truly crazy dancers to sing and dance along with it while wearing ridiculous outfits? Get your feathers flying - and Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a great weekend, dear reader!

Wouldn't you like to have fun, fun, fun

A Misdsummer view up my back passage [click to embiggen]

Yes!!

Another weekend is in view at last...

True to form, the hot and humid weather we had again this week looks likely to give way to a more overcast, unstettled couple of days - but hey ho; we can always rely upon the divine Ritchie Family to lift our spirits!

Thank Disco (and Bob Fosse, on the 95th anniversary of his birth, no less) It's Friday!

Say, wouldn't you like to know what's goin' on in my mind, dear reader?

Probably not.

Have a good one!

That was just a lie!

Reach! For the stars...

Yesterday, regular reader Uptonking said: "I need me some disco ball fairy dust magic, dammit."

Who am I to argue?

Let's boogie our way into the weekend with this selection of fabulosity - and Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a great one, daaaahlings!

Life's a festival, so try some letting go

As ever, a gratuitous totty-holding-a-flag photo is in order, methinks.

Yesterday, it was Canada's turn. This Sunday, there's another celebration across the pond, that of a much bloodier departure of an ex-colony from the British Empire...

So let's combine the occasion with our traditional party preparations for the looming weekend, grab our glittery tasselly frocks with matching berets (just like the faboo Ritchie Family, with a most appropriate choon) - and Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a good weekend peeps - Yank or no Yank!

La La La La La La La La

Wheeeeee!

A weekend is looming, and the forecast is for no rain (for a change!) so we may be able to get out into the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers and do some clearing of the detritus of autumn...

However, even if there's not really a prospect of doing much in the way of partying, given the latest level of restrictions, in our head we're always up for a boogie - just like the energetic types of Soul Train [albeit somewhat slower and creakier] and the effervescent Ritchie Family.

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a great weekend, dear reader!

Do your own thing, hey, hey

Phew - a long, long, long week is just about over, and it is time to paaaarty...

Let us get our best canary-yellow feathery tasselly number from the back of the wardrobe, and practice our moves (like the safety gays shimmying along) with the delightful Ritchie Family!

Glitter balls

I think I'll take a break from the Christmas music countdown - this morning at least - mainly because if you trawl (as I do, dear chums, just for you, at the end of every week) the archives of the genre we call "Disco" for Xmas jollies, the results are just too, too awful to even contemplate...

So instead, let's let our eternal sweethearts of glitterball-tastic dance choons The Ritchie Family unwrap their Xmas prezzies a little early...

It's a Man's World, indeed. And as we plan our final parties before the Festering Season, aren't we eternally grateful for that?!

Thank Disco It's Friday! Have a good one!

Barbichette moment again...

How does one follow yesterday's "Sylvester-fest"?

I know...

Back in March 2011 I made a magnificently camp musical discovery, and had to share. Some things are definitely worth repeating, so let us revisit that moment!

Here's the supremely talented Ritchie Family with what can only be described as what might have happened had the artistic designer of the Eurovision Song Contest somehow woken up from a drug-fuelled haze in a Paris discotheque in 1979 and decided to make a video...

Thank Disco It's Friday!

This clip is from a completely unknown (to the residents of Dolores Delargo Towers, at least) French disco movie by the name of Je te tiens, tu me tiens par la Barbichette, which roughly translated means "I've got you, you've got me by the chin hairs" - and also starred the Village People!

Bizarre...

I don't pop my cork for every guy I see

Another working week grinds to a juddering halt, and for that we are eternally grateful...

It's time to start planning our parties! On the eve of what would have been the 95th birthday of the late, great Bob Fosse, yet in keeping with our regular trip back to the hedonistic sparkly world of the 1970s, here's Dolores Delargo Towers favourites The Ritchie Family and their version of Big Spender from Sweet Charity, cleverly cut with one of the great man's finest big screen moments from the original movie....

You, too, can look like a slut if you really try... Thank Disco It's Friday!

Mr Fosse would love this.

African Queens?

It's the end of a long, freezing cold week, and for that we are grateful - although the big chill does look to haunt us all weekend...

What better way to keep warm than in some extravagantly OTT "African Queen" costumes? The eternally tacky Ritchie Family (who look more like bargain basement drag queens than Nefertiti, Cleopatra And The Queen Of Sheba, inevitably) seem to approve.

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Keep Warm!

Shimmy Friday!

At the end of what has turned out to be a very slow, very dull and very miserable week (it is always awful going back to work after some time off, even if I haven't been away), it's time to celebrate the arrival of the weekend!

And so get ready to don your shimmeriest shimmy frock, tie as many bangs into your hair as you can lift, and shake it on down with our favourite 70s camp girlie singers, The Ritchie Family - Thank Disco It's Friday!!

Have a great one!

Disco Barbichette

Have I got a bucketful of campness for you, dear reader...

I thought I'd round off a miserable week with something guaranteed to start your weekend with a smile on your face!

Here's the supremely talented Ritchie Family with what can only be described as what might have happened had the artistic designer of the Eurovision Song Contest somehow woken up from a drug-fuelled haze in a Paris discotheque in 1979 and decided to make a video...

Thank Disco It's Friday!

And when they play the right groove, your body makes the next move

It's the weekend! Sun is shining (although it probably won't last) and all is well with the world when we have the Ritchie Family to entertain us in The Best Disco in Town...
