Another selection of some newer musical delights is in order today, methinks...

First up, those marvellous pioneers of 80s electronic music OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) are back with a new album (English Electric) and a fab single Dresden:

Regular faves here at Dolores Delargo Towers, those mad Melbourne-ites Parralox have a new single out, (featuring the rather cute Ryan Adamés), which has rather an early "house" feel about it - it's Silent Morning:

Helen Marnie, lead vocalist and mainstay of the uber-cool Ladytron, started a solo career in 2012. Here, from her debut album Crystal World, is the single The Hunter. I like it - it reminds me a little of Tears for Fears...

I am not usually known to be strangely drawn to "urban" shouty music, but once again the mere presence of the unbowed queen of dance music Luciana, in the estimable company of the horny gay bad boy Cazwell, makes this song irresistible - it's Guess What?:

Humming a diff'rent tune

It's time once more for a delve into some of the newer music that has pushed my buttons lately... And (not unusually) I have been in a bit of an electro vibe again!

Let us open with the newest release from the synth-tastic Ladytron. In the video, a freezing cold Helen Marnie is evidently worshipping at the shrine of Siouxsie (and who doesn't?)...

If ever you fancied a cross between minimalist 80s-style electro pop and camp old Bollywood movies, then this video by Citizens! [sic] (whose producer is Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos) should press all of your buttons... Hilarious - I love it!

Speaking of 80s influences - how about a band that describes itself thus?: "On one side, the cold and safe synthetics of a condom and the glamorous elegance of velvet on the other". What else would these crazy Strasbourgers be called but Velvet Condom... They are rather marvellous, too, in a sub-OMD sort of way:

It's that time again - let us meander through the miscellany of music that has mesmerised my mood this week...

To open proceedings, here's a rather interesting cover of one of Our Glorious Leader Madonna's classics by the remarkable James Yuill:

Critics may have accused her of trying to vocally emulate one of our patron saints Kate Bush, but I feel the mysterious Saint Saviour is a delightfully unusual discovery amongst the dross that passes for popular music (M'lud) these days...

And that is just what the new "girl"-band sensation Xelle provide by the bucket-load! Thanks to the lovely Mike at Pop Trash Addicts (once again!) for this one:
