Gone away is the bluebird

It it all over yet? No..?

Ah well - on this Tacky Music Monday, as we head to the office again (for only a couple of days, admittedly), I might as well drag out the Del Rubio Triplets again!

Bah Humbug.

Gone away is the bluebird; here to stay is a new bird

I wouldn't mind unwrapping Chris Hemsworth on Xmas morning

It's the Most. Pointless. Monday. Ever.

So, we've struggled to wake ourselves on a dank and dark morning once again, and for what? A morning of sitting in a deserted office, "checking emails"; then (if the bosses are feeling magnanimous) off to the pub at lunchtime, before doing some last minute shopping and heading home again...

On this Tacky Music Xmas Eve Monday, only the Del Rubio Triplets can save the day:

That put a smile on my face. Briefly.

We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way

Back to work again (albeit a short week, thanks to the Yule/Saturnalia weekend), and I am steadfastly un-festive.

However, we're combining two traditions today - continuing the big countdown, and playing some music eminently suitable for a Tacky Music Monday (and to celebrate the Solstice!).

So who better than the adorable Del Rubio Triplets to lift the gloom?

I don't know about Winter Wonderland - it's the warmest December since records began here in the UK. Ice rinks are melting, and the daffodils are already flowering...

Have a good week, folks.

Last of three

RIP Milly, the last of the uber-camp, uber-kitsch Del Rubio Triplets...

I loved them! (Needless to say, we have their album)

Once again, thanks to the lovely Marc at Deep Dish blog for the info.

Countdown begins

I do hate this festering season - amateur drinkers vomiting everywhere, false jollity, endless repeats on telly, huge queues at the shops, and every music channel turned over to "The Greatest Hits Of Christmas" (which will inevitably feature Mariah-bloody-Carey, Chris Rea or Johnny Mathis at some stage).

However, this is indeed the season for tackiness, and so without further ado here is the first of my choice of songs in the countdown to Saturnalia. Laydeez and gentlemen, give a warm welcome to the Del Rubio Triplets!
