Give me the hook or the ovation

Dear old Jerry Herman was 83 yesterday.

It's also the end of a particularly tortuous week back in work after a week off for the move.

So what better way to celebrate the coming weekend than with the former "friend of the gays" (now, sadly, yet another diva-turned-god-botherer) Miss Gloria Gaynor [here, incomprehensibly, accompanied by what appears to be a collective of prostitutes...] and her version of one of the Great Man's most anthemic numbers - I Am What I Am?

Thank Disco It's Friday!

    1. Why, Norma, I always thought you were so sweet-natured. Like a cross between the Granny in Sylvester and Tweetie-Pie and Helen Hayes... Jx

    2. i seem to recall sylvester's granny to be a baseball
bat toting crone, precisely what i've patterned
      myself as!

  2. I never got the purpose of the hookers in that performance - hey girls, it's OK to be a hooker?
In any case, a great song (although it inevitably fades in comparison to "I Will Survive")...

    1. I think Miss Gaynor was a bit clueless when it came to singing this song - I doubt she even realised it's an anthem for drag queens, not street girls. Whatever she thought she was doing, she still looks uncomfortable throughout... Jx
