Sing it

It's been a hectic week, from Rita (Moreno) to Peter (Tatchell) [more on that later no doubt].

However, as a focus of both the Stonewall Awards [more later, too] and Mr Tatchell's LGBT rights at home and abroad speech was on the continuing struggle of our fellow gay people in Russia (and elsewhere) against oppressive new laws and brutal crack-downs, here's an anthem I haven't heard for ages - UB40 and Sing Our Own Song...

It may be about the fall of Apartheid, but the lyrics still have a meaning to oppressed minorities everywhere.

We will fight for the right to be free
We will build our own society
And we will sing, we will sing
We will sing our own song

Off to see the Lord Mayor's fireworks now - hectic is the word!
