I know what you mean, Jon, I feel the same way. I thought of you this morning when I read this sad news.
I saw two of David Bowie's shows and he was spectacular, mesmerizing, unforgettable. A one-of-a-kind talent, he shared on his terms, which made him even more special. He was far beyond generous and we are enriched through his art.
I’ve spent the day with his music ringing round my head. Thinking about growing up with him – you as the Thin White Duke; Carol’s going through her Ziggy Stardust phase. He was woven into the fabric of our lives and will be missed.
Looking at the brilliant range of work the man produced it is like losing a giant, and like Shakespeare or Dickens he has made our culture richer and will be missed keenly,
I was speaking with someone about how I feel a personal loss even though I didn't know Bowie. However, I couldn't express myself eloquently in words about how I feel. "Floating" comes closest.
Oh MY god ! He has left us.
ReplyDeleteStill in shock myself... Jx
DeleteCan. Not. Believe.

It's weird. I genuinely feel bereaved by this news. Jx

DeleteJon, you were the first of my online group whom I thought of after I heard the sad news.
ReplyDeleteAs History boy said, "He was woven into the fabric of our lives."
I feel like a part of me has "left the building" so to speak.

DeleteAnd I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today."
We are all floating a bit this week. Jx

DeleteNone of us knew him, but his mere existence sustained so much of our being. It hurts to lose that sustenance. Jx
DeleteHe opened strange doors that we'd never close again xxx
ReplyDeleteHe asked for my love and I gave him a dangerous mind. Jx
DeleteMy tiny tribute xxx
