There is a little bit of Johnny in all of us

...apparently.

RIP the man nicknamed "The French Elvis", teen heartthrob and latterly "bad boy" of rock - Johnny Hallyday (born Jean-Philippe Smet, 15th June 1943 – 5th December 2017)

  1. A French morning news show devoted it's entire hour and a half of programming time to Johnny Hallyday.

They even dragged out President François Hollande to have his say.

    1. He was apparently universally loved in France, so that's no surprise. I imagine there would be as many tears and acres of coverage here if - heaven forfend - Tom Jones died... Jx

    2. I got sucked into watching his funeral today in its entirely and of my own free will.

I knew of his popularity and expected a throng of people to line the streets but I really wasn't prepared for the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of fans that turned out.

    3. "He once performed before a million people in a mobile musical cavalcade down the Champs-Elysees." His funeral cortège almost eclipsed that, apparently. Incroyable! Jx
