Oh, how much are we missing the sunshine of Spain..? Sob.
I've had a productive day, dear reader - first time pottering out in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers since last Autumn! The main thing I always have to clear at this time of year is all that death that winter brings - so out came the secateurs, and I made a start on pruning off blackened and browned bits on the fuchsias, ferns and (some) salvias, tore down the dead Thunbergia vine, and scraped out more leaf-and-sycamore-seed clag from several pots. Loads more to do, but it was a good start...
Right! Back to Spain it is (we wish!), in the company of another fave camp-as-tits fiery diva who is wildly popular over there [she is actually Mexican, but that's merely splitting hairs], and whose birthday it happened to be while we were there - Señorita Gloria Trevi!
And here's her duet with our other "house fave" Señorita Monica Naranjo:
Whew! That was a battle-of-the-tonsils, alright...
Now, guapo! where is that Tinto de Verano?!
[*"Todos Me Miran" = "Everyone looks at me" in Spanish]
YAY! Your back!!!!! I don't blame you one bit for wanting to be right back in Spain...look at the sunshine...not too much the architecture! I trust you had a good time and maybe just a few libations?
ReplyDeleteIn the garden!!!!! Oh hell, it will be at least two months till I get in the garden. It's been downright cold, rainy and snow and sleet, currently as I type this....and forecasted several more times over the next week, with downpours all weekend. And I adore Gloria Trevi! You may be the only person I know to have heard of her.
Oh, yes - we're back, dammit! I did announce our return on Monday, but I know from catching-up with your blog you've been sick, so it's no surprise you missed it...
DeleteIt's cold and miserable here, too - certainly in comparison to the Costa del Sol - but not freezing, and no (proper) rain, so I thought, as I am here until next Monday I might as well wrap up and get out there to at least start doing the things that need doing at this time of year, before I no longer have the spare time. February's the time for repotting herbaceous perennials, too, but it remains to be seen if I can muster the energy to even start tackling that task! Jx
PS Gloria Trevi's a powerhouse - but even she met her match with Monica Naranjo!
I love me some Monica Orangetree! So sorry you had to say good-bye to La Costa and hello to some dreary London weather. You look so content in the photo after your visit with the bishop.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! - he looked just like a waiter to me... Jx
DeletePaper straw or plastic? These are the questions that plague our times.
ReplyDeleteNot mine - as long as there's a drink at the end of it! Jx
DeleteFun music! Glad you had a nice trip! Just a few more days for me. I'm jealous! I wish I could get out and do some work outside! We have frozen snow that won't go away and today we have a windstorm on top of it! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI imagine our British winters are nothing compared to what you get in Washington State, despite the fact that London is actually further north than Calgary in Canada. Good ol' Gulf Stream! Jx
DeleteHappy Birthday Gloria, I adore you.
ReplyDelete2 Fab tracks. I have loved them both for ages but had never knowingly seen the first video
How fab was that and what a find.
Fab photo too !
I have actually featured Todos Me Miran here before - but it was sixteen years ago, so I am not surprised you don't remember it! Jx
