If only you could smell the wallflowers, filling the air with perfume at the moment.
Whew, what a scorcher!
We in London have had the hottest early April day in 80 years - the official figure was 26.5C (79.7F) at Kew Gardens, but according to our thermometer, we had already reached that temperature in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers when I was having my first fag and a mug of coffee out there at 8am - and I was in shorts with my top off [not a pretty sight], doing some pottering, after I got in from work at around 5pm!
Lovely. Here's something suitable for the occasion, that I haven't heard in ages:
Inevitably, it's all going downhill by the time the weekend (and the start of a week's leave pour moi) comes around...
I recognized Daytona Beach, Florida in the video! I spent a spring break there... during the motorcycle rally.
ReplyDeleteThese places are all a mystery to me... Jx
DeleteIt’s better that way.
DeleteFrom what I hear about Florida and its unsavoury orange resident, I agree. Jx
DeleteWallflowers are definitely on my garden list. And mignonette, if I can find it. And daphne.And...and...and
ReplyDeleteI have never grown (nor even knowingly smelt) mignonette. Daphne, like Mahonia and witch hazels, are a winter-scented flower that I have great difficulty smelling at all (unlike Viburnum, which I have no problem with).
DeleteOur scent receptors are an odd thing, and very personal - The Madam raves over our Sarcococca in winter, but I only ever catch a slight whiff occasionally, and our "Gertrude Jeckyll" rose in summer, which is similar for me (very faint and occasional scent). I, on the other hand , adore Primulas, but he cannot smell them as strongly.
Thankfully, neither of us has a problem with wallflowers (nor jasmine, in bud at the moment)! They are a delight. Jx
Best year ever for Wallflowers in our garden me thinks. The scent has been amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt still is! Jx
