Oh, no! Back to work again!
Truth be told, I am not overly distraught - for, although this is likely to be a hectic one in work (it's always shit after any time away, and there were major changes in workloads just before I went on leave thanks to two people leaving in quick succession), I'm only there for five days before we jet off to the joys of Benalmadena again for a week (and I have another week off aftwerwards, to boot)!
On Saturday, a little gang of us went to the weird and wonderful Tutankhamun Immersive Experience [my first ever VR headset experience], where we were in turn educated and (mainly) overwhelmed with visuals evoking the glories and the mythology of the Ancient Egyptian empire (of which Tutenkhamun was merely a minor representative, given its 3000-year history) via glittering moving walls illustrating that world, followed by a (literally) flying 3D trip through Tutenkhamun's tomb and on to the mythological afterlife and much more besides. Best of all was the room where the headsets not only dropped everyone into a complete walk-around representation of archaeologist Howard Carter's desert camp (with the ability to turn pages on his books and listen to his gramophone) and the tomb he opened, but (hilariously) made everyone in the room into an avatar of the venerable gentleman explorer himself [with ID numbers underneath, so you could locate companions easily]!
Oh, and there was even an "AI photobooth", that merged one's features with Egyptian garb...

A floating Tut sarcophagus, and me as some kind of (big-eared) Pharaoh
It was quite extraordinary, and loads of fun!
Back to reality. On this Tacky Music Monday, this seems appropriate:
Have a good week, dear reader. I won't.
I saw the title and hoped you shared the video or I was going to be off in search of. The museum sounds like a blast and I love you as a pharaoh.
ReplyDeleteRemarkably, that song was almost 40 years ago (and Susanna Hoffs is 66 years of age)! Yet we can all still sing it, word for word. Jx
DeletePS The pharaoh (or should it be fairy?) mock-up photo is rather unflattering, I thought - but hey ho, not bad for 5,000 years old!
I, too, thought you looked great for 5,000.
DeleteSilver-tongue. Jx
DeleteSounds fab.
ReplyDeleteIt was all very "theme park" (somewhat glib about the history, and all done in an annoying American accent) and harmless fun, but I'm not sure you would have enjoyed it, tbh. Jx
DeleteWell I think you have gravitas as a pharaoh!
ReplyDeleteWalk like an Egyptian - 40 years old?!!
Sx
Gravitas with big ears.
DeleteIt is constantly terrifying to realise how time flies. I mean, it's twenty years since Tony Christie and Peter Kay were at the top of the charts with “Is This The Way To Amarillo”!! Jx
