O come all ye pastries

The bakery chain Greggs has apologised for offending Christians with a nativity scene advert that replaces Jesus with a sausage roll.

Greggs released the image to promote its £24 advent calendar, which goes on sale next Monday. Its decision...sparked criticism from Twitter users and religious groups.
Remarkably, this story is actually true.

    1. Or according to the Polari Bible: "She that sitteth in the heavens shall titter: the Duchess shall have them in derision." Jx

    1. Greggs generally is not even wryly amusing; I do agree. Jx

  3. Jesus can't eat that it's not kosher (though they did cut the end off, so that's something.)

They could have chosen a more appealing sausage though. Don't they cook anything in there?

    1. "Cooking" is somewhat subjective where Greggs is concerned. As is the word "meat". or the word "appealing". Jx

  4. If you're going to substitute a SAUSAGE for the son of God it had better be a much nicer sausage than that.

Just as if you've accidentally made an omelette with dragon's eggs it had better be a bloody good omelette

    1. Me neither - nor do I understand why they would feel the need to apologise for satire. Especially to the loathsome bigots of such reprehensible organisations as the "Evangelical Alliance", and especially to the fake "professionally offended" of Tw*tteer. Jx

  7. That sausage is still crap! I'm sure there are people on here who've left Jesus for sausage, they know who they are, but I hope it was better sausage than that!

  8. I just can't get over the fact Americans are baffled by sausage rolls.

Although anyone would be baffled by that sausage roll.

Seriously, that's the one they use in the adverts!? That's the supermodel of Gregg's sausage rolls? That's the one that can stand in for the Messiah? V
