TFFT! Another week of drudgery - while looking out on the glorious (if slightly chilly) Spring sunshine from the stuffy and airless office - is over...
...and we have a Diva birthday to celebrate! Sharing her day with our Patron Saint of Hoofing Shirley MacLaine, as well as the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Tony Visconti, Paula Yates, Aidan Gillen, Anthony Trollope, Jill Ireland, guitarist John Williams, Kelly Clarkson, Sir Stafford Cripps, Clement Freud, Gabby Logan, filmmaker Richard Donner, Olympic cyclist (Dame) Laura Kenny, Rory McCann and - erm - "Lord Haw Haw" William Joyce - it's "MegaBabs" Barbra Streisand's birthday today!
As it is the end of the week, and we have a party to start planning, so how about Babs' most successful foray into dance music - in the company of another glittering gay icon LaDonna?! I think so. Thank Disco It's Friday!
Have a great weekend, folks!
This song brings back memories of my best friend Brian in the years pre-AIDS. I can hear him singing... and see him dancing. He was living in Boston with a sugar daddy at the time and this was playing in the apartment as sugar daddy’s latest rent boy was walking out the door. Was that my life?
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting chapter! Jx
DeleteThe weekends come just in time as it always does. I planned on being in the garden all weekend, but we're expecting rain moves the day tomorrow, so my work may wait till Sunday. Either way must get it done cuz next weekend I'm going to New York City. Looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteIt's our last weekend in the sunshine, too, before we bugger off again to Spain next weekend! There's loads still to do, but let's see what's manageable... Jx
DeleteI should have said "in the sunshine in our garden" - as we rather hope to have a lot more of it on the Costa del Sol..! Jx
DeleteAh, MegaBabs and LaDonna (I shall always think of them like this whenever "Enough..." comes on in Car now) - What a fab way to throw off the work week and start the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've just been out in the garden hoping to drink my coffee in the sun but it's just a tad too nippy at the mo. Maybe in a couple of hours.
Happy weekend, Jon! x
"No More Tears", Mr DeVice - the sun's out now! Jx
DeleteNo More Tears Enough is Enough was on my mother's Saturday morning cleaning tape, it succeeded Cinderella Rockerfella so it was a welcome relief.
ReplyDeleteI used to love Cinderella Rockerfella when I was a kid, but I'm not sure I could put up with it over and over... Jx

ReplyDeleteSuch an empowering song. I think it resonates in the soundtrack of most peoples lives at some point. it certainly it does in mine.
You are right, of course - I remember my mother singing it, just around the time she started divorce proceedings from my father! I love it. Jx
