Iris-patterned idyll

Iris reticulata "Harmony" in the gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers

It's starting to feel a bit more like Spring today, and I have been pottering in the sunny garden - enjoying the ever-flourishing cyclamen, the daffs, the crocuses and the delightful irises that are all in full bloom at the moment.

Time to go shopping for a new seasonal frock, methinks. Oh, but there are so many Timeless Patterns to choose from...

  1. Lovely Iris. Our flowers are at least a month yet from blooming. Love the Timeless Patterns Clip and the music of course. We have on our cable box, On Demand, which features our cable, movies and different networks, and if also features 30 different music stations, like radio, without the adverts and it plays 24/7. One is Lounge Night with music just like this. It's on...ALOT.

    1. I find lounge music and gardening to be perfect companions... Jx

  2. I'm furiously jealous. NONE of my irises have even put up a bud this year.

    1. Give them time. Sometimes they look as if they're coming up "blind", then suddenly, a bud. Mind you, they are tricky to get to flower in successive years without putting them in a rockery (which we don't have)... Jx

  3. Sadly, our first round of blooms - crocus, daffodil, forsythia, and cherry tree - are being done in by a cold snap after a long spell of unseasonably warm weather. I'm hoping the cold doesn't doom the next wave, too, but we shall see. Fortunately, as we are most definitely _not_ gardeners, however much we appreciate their work, our building's gang of Formidable Widows keep the property looking quite festive. Although not as festive as either those charming frocks or that enchanting music...

    1. Cherries are always so ephemeral, especially when the cold wind whips up, but beautiful when they are in full flourish. There are a few early ones giving a bit of a show in the streets around here, but the bigger-flowered ones are yet to perform. Of all the spring blooms, the only ones that seem to stand up to anything the weather throws at them, I find, are the daffodils and the anemone blanda (the latter of which are just popping through the soil here)... 4. Your irises are beautiful, Jon! For some reason, I don't have any at Castlette DeVice, but luckily there's enough snowdrops, crocuses and daffs to make up for it.
I'd love to get out and do some gardening, but it's a swamp out there at the mo! Too much rain lately.

P.S. The girl in the red gingham number (at 40 seconds in) looks remarkably like Princess Kate.

    1. It is a bit of a bog here, too, but we've been busying ourselves checking and clearing-up the (myriad) things in pots - the majority of our fuchsias have (so far) survived, and we even have a few survivors amongst the pelargoniums and nicotiana... Jx
