Everytime I hear this song

The Netherlands is renowned as the land of great art and great taste.

It's Monday, but I don't give a shit for a change - instead, let's start the countdown to our annual pilgrimage to Amsterdam in the most befitting possible way.

As it is a Tacky Music Monday, this can only mean one thing - another outing for that fantabulosa Dutch super-camp "supergroup" De Toppers! And, with a medley of such sing-a-long "classics" as (Is This The Way To) Amarillo, Living Next Door to Alice, Mississipi, Una Paloma Blanca and Hey Baby (Uhh, Ahh), how could we resist them?!

One day, we will get to go to one of these stadium-filling extravaganzas! One day...

  1. Well this is jolly! Amarillo always makes me think of Ronnie Corbett falling off a running machine.

    1. So unfortunate that the video also included Jimmy Savile. I suppose no station will broadcast it now. Jx

  2. Jon, dear, you're making me count my years! I remember the Bruce Channel "Hey Baby"
Have you had that tall, cold glass of Amstel yet?

    1. Lordy. That was released the year before even I was born.

The Amstel's getting ever closer - we fly Thursday at stupid o'clock! Jx

    1. Nowadays, it's all about hipster micro-breweries and vegan food... Times change, and not always for the better. Jx

  4. Apparently, these guys are so super special, YouTube cannot allow them to be played in America because they would completely obliterate our tiny parochial minds.

    Wow.

  5. I had to Google them to see what everyone was talking about. I have to say, they're pretty impressive. Those old ladies can really put on a show.

    1. They ain't no ladies... They're certainly a phenomenon in the Netherlands - they've sold out every one of the string of concerts they put on every year at the 70,000-capacity Amsterdam Arena for the past fifteen years, and to date have sold over 1,500,000 chart-topping CDs and DVDs. Yet, outside the Low Countries - and Dolores Delargo Towers - they're completely unknown! Jx
