Puts a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet

Sigh. Back to the old routine...

After a weekend of Cecil Beaton followed by storms, and with the Madam's sister Carol being here until tomorrow, I really am not in the mood for work today. At all!

However, life goes on. It pays the bills. And it is the centenary today of one of the greatest "triple threats" ever ["triple threat" = a performer who can act, dance, and sing], Mr Sammy Davis Junior!

On this Tacky Music Monday, I think, by way of a tribute, I need this! It's my favourite of all his roles...

Have a good week, dear reader.

    1. Absolutely! His struggles against the prevailing racism and prejudice of the time are the stuff of legend. Jx

  2. I loved watching his films when I was a kid - especially Robin and the Seven Hoods!
I hope your week goes quickly!

  3. Darling Jon,

We are rather behind with our reading of your blog posts and so have just caught up with Cecil Beaton, one of our all time favourites. In particular, we have always looked out for Bright Young Things to add extra glamour and interest to our sparkling lives. Alas, both bright and young they may be but they have yet to deliver the eccentric elegance that Beaton seemed to capture. We shall continue to look.

And, at first, we thought that today's post began with a bank of washing machines. [We are extremely short-sighted]. Nevertheless, we watched with interest as they turned on our screen thinking that any minute a Bright Young Thing with Levi jeans would enter....he did not....they are not washing machines.

We hope that you are enjoying a Happy Monday.....we bet that you can act, sing and dance....:):)

    1. I aim to please, dears. There certainly is a dearth of "Bright Young Things" about at the moment, particularly talented ones! Sammy Davis Jr could show them a thing or two... Jx

  4. I think there must be something wrong with me. I can see how multi talented Sammy Davis Jr was and his career was was a triumph against the odds and preludise of the time in the USA but I just don't like/enjoy his work very much.

    1. He made some naff choices - Candyman and Mr Bojangles come to mind - but he was brilliant on so much more than that... Jx
