A view up my (very hot) back passage... [click to embiggen]
Phew! What a scorcher!
Yes indeed - exactly as the Met Office forecast - the thermometer in our extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers hit (at least) 32C/89.6F this afternoon. And to think, last week we had the heating on in the evenings... Britain, Britain, Britain.
To celebrate the arrival of summer, this:
Pretty little things, weren't they? {{cough}}
Of that song, however, it is this version I remember most fondly:
Unfortunately I can't find an actual video of Tik and Tok performing that song, but here they are in their glory, doing what they did best!
And finally, the band from whence Tik and Tok emerged - who I saw live way back in the early 1980s:
Ah, memories...
Don't think I ever saw a picture of Lovin' Spoonful, but I certainly remember the song. 1966 and a very hot year as I recall.
ReplyDeleteI was just three years old in 1966. I don't remember much about that year, particularly not the weather... Jx
DeleteOh I love Summer in the City!
ReplyDeleteYes, a tad warm - even in Devon! Can't believe that last week I was shivering and lighting the wood burner. Take care, Jon, and keep cool.
Sx
I love it! A Bank Holiday weekend, and no rain (for a change). Yay! Jx
DeleteWow at last !
ReplyDeleteLovin spoonful is perfect garden music for the moment
Song 10 looks 3
"Tits and ass!" Jx
DeleteIf Summer in the City is 32C then I'll stay here on the coast where it's 10 degrees cooler - and that's still too hot for me!
ReplyDeleteTik and Tok's science lab mime is brilliant!
22C? That's positively chilly...
DeleteTik and Tok were brilliant, and I always hated mime! I met them once, you know..? Jx
Summer in the City is a song that plays in my head every summer when I walk hot city streets (not so much in Spain because these aren’t the streets I imagine in the song). But all my years in NYC, this was it! And I love the way the song opens.
ReplyDeleteMine for London in a heatwave is Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.
DeleteI love how both versions of the song open! Jx
