Spot what’s hidden in the picture?
This!
Yes - our little Robin, despite searing temperatures and rapidly dying foliage around her [because we don't want to water the wall pot of fuchsia while she's in there] is still carefully hiding behind the twigs and nursing her clutch of eggs, opposite our back door. It won't be long now till the chicks arrive [fingers crossed]!
Meanwhile, as we have just got through the last full day of this heatwave, according to the Met Office - a day that has been mainly overcast and incredibly humid, and exhausting - we need some respite, courtesy of the wondrous folks at Soft Tempo Lounge. I have seen the future, and it involves lots of plastic, lots of very unrealistic special effects, and lots of pouting!
Faboo, as always.

STOP PRESS. 12.30pm:
Here we go again...
Neither this post from last night, nor my tribute post to Ann Blyth from Friday, have shown up the the Blogger Reading List! The Google gnomes need another kick up the arse.

You are very kind to your nesting robin, But I wonder if she might appreciate a gentle misting; it would be a shame if the eggs poached.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, after temperatures had hit 36C/96.8F during the day, I did just that! I watered every fuchsia around her [and every other pot in the garden] once the sun went behind the houses then turned the hose to "mist", pointed it up in the air, and created a "mini-drizzle" just for her (and to try and rejuvenate the dying fuchsia she relies on for cover).
DeleteI had soaked everything so well yesterday, and because it was cloudy today, I didn't get the hose out again - but will do exactly the same tomorrow if the forecast "back-to-normal" temperatures don't materialise and it still stays hot. Jx
I'm glad you gave the Robin a mist. You will get some rain - we had more last night, though it still feels warm. However, the week after next might be hot again.

Not much rain on the Met Office forecast for London. There's a lot more cloud around today, so anything could happen, to be honest. Jx
DeleteOH! Blessings on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm anointed! Eek! Jx
DeleteI hope the robin and her chicks make it through this in good health. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteWe have our fingers crossed. They're lovely birds. Jx
