Take solace

As I steel myself for the return to work after a fab four-day break, I also find myself taking umbrage at a recent discovery about which I knew nothing previously.

Someone dared to turn down Dame Shirley Bassey for a Bond theme? [In favour of this crock of shit, incidentally - Jack, who?]

Here is the magnificent No Good About Goodbye. It was not considered "good enough" for Quantum of Solace, apparently. Judge for yourselves.

Nobody does it better, indeed!

  1. we're all discarded as we get old. i suppose it's lucky for us that our discarding isn't quite so public as others. at least at the end of the day, she's still shirley fucking bassey.

  2. Its beyond me why she doesn't do every theme song for each Bond movie. She goes hand in hand so well with the franchise. And lets face it, the most iconic bond films where she sang were the best. Moonraker is my favorite.

    1. "Moonraker" is indeed fabulous - and yes, I agree. Scrap the bloody Sam Smiths and Sheryl Crows and Chris Cornells (who?) of this world, and let the Dame at the mike every time! Jx

    2. I have to agree with both of you. When I think "James Bond" immediately The Dame Shirley comes to mind.
