Take your brain to another dimension - pay close attention
Quite a shock. The raviest raver, The Scary Man of the 90s big-beat dance era, Keith Flint of the Prodigy has been found dead at the age of 49. [He had apparently been suffering with depression for many years.]
Among the man's achievements: with the Prodigy, he sold an estimated 30 million records worldwide; had the video for Firestarter banned from Top of the Pops for "scaring the kiddies"; caused huge controversy with the award-winning Smack My Bitch Up; had his distinctive "punk-rave" look made into a Hallowe'en costume; owned a champion motorcycle race team; and became the most famous person to come out of Braintree, Essex. Ever.
By way of a little tribute to Mr Flint, here's my favourite Prodigy single (and video)...
...and a double-helping of the group's ground-breaking "Acid House"/"Rave" moments:
Farewell, Keef! With you gone, the musical world becomes yet more anodyne than we would like...
