Let it shine on you

Now you see it...

...and now you don't (much)!

Yes, that horrid American Black Walnut tree over the back from the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers is finally meeting its maker. Good! Just the vile sycamores (in the left of each picture) to go.

Here's an appropriate song - and what a video!

Roll on the sunbathing...

  1. Only the late 1960’s could create that.
    Filmed on location in Mexico.
The singing was dubbed by Tina Cole of the King Family, Raquel didn’t have the pipes. -Rj

    1. I somehow guessed Raquel's voice - like so much of her - would need to be enhanced! Jx

  2. I never saw that video. I don’t know why they would even make if with her not even doing the singing. Tina Cole was nice to look at, too. Absolutely bizarre.

    1. Raquel apparently did sing - she started out as a nightclub singer - but it appears that the producers didn't think her voice was strong enough on certain numbers. Similar happened to Natalie Wood in West Side Story - she sang the whole thing when it was filmed, and they didn't even tell her they were bringing in Marni Nixon to overdub her vocals before the film was released! 2. I knew Welch sang, too. So ridiculous. Wasn’t it amazing how many actresses sounded just like Marni Nixon? Forgot to mention how nice it will be to have more light shining on (up) your back passage.

    3. Miss Nixon was everywhere in the 1950s and early 60s... Jx

PS It is a remarkable sea-change for our garden over just two days!

  3. Oh, congratulations on the acquisition of sunshine! You must be thrilled?! Will we see irises and gladdies from you in next year's Garden Photo Event, I wonder?

    1. Today, the ugly "cherry" tree (I put it inverted commas because it barely blossomed more than every couple of year, and nary a fruit in sight) that obscured the houses over the back (lower left in the second photo) went as well! We've never seen so much sky...

At this rate, we'll be growing lavender, rosemary, alliums and red hot pokers next! Jx

  5. What a wonderfully dreadful video.
    Let the sunshine in, indeed.

    1. Both it, and the sudden lack of tree, are startling! Jx
