Madam Arcati and I are off this afternoon for another slice of culture with a capital "K"; to experience the splendid Carmina Burana by Carl Orff - in the magnificently opulent surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall, no less!
Meanwhile, a bit of "Sunday Music" is in order, courtesy of our "house band" here at Dolores Delargo Towers - a classic pop choon as you never heard it before...
Faboo!
You just made my day with Rogelio Davis and Hotel California. I hope to carry that energy forward.
ReplyDeleteOh, to have even half that man's energy! Jx
DeleteOh, fabulous! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSx
You're welcome, Ms Scarlet! Jx
DeleteI had a slice of very high-brow culture a couple of weeks ago when the maid and I went to see Su "without an e" Pollard.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it.
Ask PMJ to cover O Fortuna, that'll be a challenge for them.
O Fortuna in a swing style? This Hungarian lot have had a go - but it sounds nothing like it, to my ears... Jx
DeleteWe have thrashed the old Carmina Burana LP to the point of no return, but we have it as a CD and god knows how many interpretations on other discs/LPs That and David Fanshawe's "African Sanctus" are house stand-bys
ReplyDeleteI heard a bit of that African Sanctus on Radio 3 the other day, and it left me cold, sorry. Jx
DeleteOK horses for courses. How do you feel about Scott Walker/Engel?
DeleteA master of the English-language chanson - I did post a tribute when he departed for Fabulon.
DeleteUnderstandably, a great favourite of Marc Almond... Jx
Always good but that one is a cracker!
ReplyDeleteLove the Latin vibe.
A million times better than the original! Jx
DeleteOoh, Carmina Burana! I'm looking forward to your write up.
ReplyDeletePMJ's "Hotel California" is surprisingly good! (I wasn't sure what to expect, to be honest)
I was pleasantly surprised by the PMJ version, too. The original is just so jaded, after decade upon decade of it being churned out on the likes of (the old) Radio 2, Magic FM, Smooth UK and so on. It needed a makeover! Jx
