¡Empieza la cuenta atrás para nuestras vacaciones!

Just a few more days...

Yep. Monday again. Work again. It's still miserable, grey and dank out there, with more rain on the horizon (particularly tomorrow).

However, the countdown has begun - just five days to go, and we're off to Spain on Saturday! Can't wait...

Meanwhile, on this Tacky Music Monday, here's an old fave - our Patron Saint of Histrionics Señorita Rocío Jurado!

As I said last time I posted it:

With a plethora of safety gays and girls who look like drag queens [I'm sure I spotted a youthful Dame Hilda Bracket in there somewhere], bizarre costume changes, piss-poor miming and a duettist who looks like Ron Burgundy sans moustache - this is just perfect!

It remains so:

Have a good week, dear reader.

  1. Hell, I thought that was a drag show!!!!! Your posting, and I haven't even gone to bed yet! A late call tomorrow. The snow has just stopped an hour ago.

    1. Rocio Jurado, like all great gay icons, could often appear like a drag version of herself!

Can't sleep? Too much tossing and turning? Mostly tossing, I imagine... Jx

  2. Oh dear god! I tried to find something I found of quality in the video. Never mind. I wish you sunshine!

PS the forecast for the Costa looks good (so far) - sunny all weekend when we arrive. Yay!

    3. Well, we have had a particularly depressing few weeks of chilly greyness, so sunshine and longer days will be very welcome indeed! Jx

  3. I've never seen La Jurado so restrained. Great as always though.

    1. She looks a bit like a rabbit caught in car headlights at times in this video! Jx

  4. Whew, I made it through that first medley of the montage parading all my least favorite colors together. Not a fan of baby pinks or peach unless its the accent to something darker. You know, gays in space where there tends to be some gray, black or medium to dark blues. Yay, Spain! Always nice to have someplace warm to look forward too in the winter!

    1. Whoever produced this really was having some kind of psychedelic trip! The palette is really 70s - surprised there wasn't more "burnt orange" or lime green in the mix.

"Gays in Space"? Now, there's a concept!

Roll on Spain - it's pissing-down again here. Jx

  5. Flipping rain. I have clothing strewn across radiators throughout the house. AND, my big fence has blown down. Very pleased I had the roof fixed last summer.
Please may I come to Spain with you?

    1. I'm sure there are flights to Malaga from Bristol or Exeter. We'll put the Tinto de Verano on ice for you! Jx

  6. 8-27 is my fave bit.

Flamеnco dances are far the finеst bet
There was one who whispered "Ooh, asta la vista"
Each time I kissed him behind the castanets
He rattled his maracas close to me
In no time I was trembling at the knees
