A new production of Sondheim's Sunday In The Park With George, starring Ariana Grande and the very lovely Jonathan Bailey, will open at the Barbican Centre in London in summer 2027. We must get tickets!
It's another snippets post, dear reader:
- Big yawn news: The nominations for this year's Oscars have been announced. Once again, there's nothing in any category that has even tempted me to want to see it, and many films I've never even heard of. I won't be watching.
- Big cocks win medals news: Ski jumping officials have introduced new checks after claims some athletes were injecting acid into their genitals to gain an advantage. A bigger penis means a bigger suit and that helps aerodynamics, apparently. I could think of better things to do with one than skiing!
- Primordial monsters news: A 370 million-year-old fossil found in Scotland is an entirely new form of life which towered 26ft tall, scientists have confirmed. Either that or they were aliens. I await the conspiracy theories...

RIP
Patsy King, better known as "Governor Erica Davidson" in
Prisoner Cell Block H
- heavens, how I loved that show!
"That will be all, Miss Bennett!"
- Gold-digger news: Meghan Markle - the artist formerly known as "Duchess" - continues her trajectory towards being a pastiche of herself, as her much-over-hyped Netflix show Meghan With Love has proved an almighty ratings flop, and is rumoured to have been cancelled. Karma is a cruel mistress.
- Moo news: The world's media has gone mad about the discovery that Veronika the Cow can scratch her own arse by using a broom - the first time a farm animal has been recorded doing so. There wasn't much on telly in Austria that week.
- And finally...
And the weather? Pissing down all day, and no sign of it brightening up for a while yet. Roll on our trip to Spain!

are you kidding amy madigan in weapons is the campiest thing since baby jane!!
ReplyDeleteIt’s currently NOT pissing down here, but it will return this afternoon. Ooh, Sunday in the Park with George with Bailey and Grande. We had tickets to see it with Jake Gyllenhall and then COVID hit. SO disappointing. A couple of years later we saw Cabaret with Jake Shears instead, but “Sunday” might just be my favorite Broadway musical (and Jake Gyllenhall was apparently excellent). The new one is definitely worth seeing. Maybe another trip to London finally.
ReplyDeleteRyanlight: Thanks for the comment. I had to look up Amy Madigan, as I have never heard of her. I've seen a poster for Weapons. It didn't intrigue me enough to explore further. Jx
ReplyDeleteMitchell: No idea what's happened to my comment box this morning. I can usually reply logically in a "thread" (like yours on WP), but the "reply" link is greyed out for some reason. Anyhoo, yes! This production of Sunday In The Park With George is a must-see. We, too, were waiting for Jake Gyllenhall's version to cross the pond, but COVID put paid to that. Having seen Mr Bailey's utterly brilliant turn in Company, we know he's going to be fabulous! Jx
ReplyDeleteYour right....they should just send those skiers to us right?
ReplyDeleteMaddie: I'd be happy to go off-piste... Jx
ReplyDeleteI loved Prisoner Cell Block H. Bye bye "Governor Erica Davidson" .
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Amy Madigan but I am going to start watching Ski Sunday to check out what is what.
You'll never look at Eddie the Eagle in the same way again! He was played in the film by Taron Egerton, by the way - and I doubt that he needs any enhancement down below. Jx
DeleteOther than a few clips, I've never watched an Oscars ceremony. Like you, I'm rarely interested in watching any of the nominated films.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in the prototaxities, though. I watched something on telly not too long ago about earlier lifeforms on Earth, and the prototaxities just stood out as they're so unlike anything else. Fascinating! (Unlike that vapid cow. No, not Veronika. Meghan Bloody Markle!)
Evolution of life on earth is far more interesting than watching the endless luvvie back-slapping during awards season. Jx
