It's been a busy old week, dear reader. Despite having the old "post-holiday blues" after a splendid week in Spain, and despite the shit weather, I haven't really stopped! Rearranging the garden, a bit of shopping here, a bit of sorting and tidying the house there, and there's still loads to do - but hey ho! We do indeed have "the party of the year", the "Gay World Cup", our annual Eurovision Song Contest party tomorrow - and a houseful of guests in ridiculous costumes are, as ever, expected.
So, to get the celebrations going, here's an old stalwart - the 2004 entry from Bosnia-Herzegovina, in all its campery.
Thank Disco It's Eurovision Eve Friday!
Have a good weekend, peeps, whether you're planning to watch the Euro-madness of the world's longest-running and biggest music event or not...
FOOTNOTE:
It seems the Google gnomes are still being bastards, as yesterday's post took seven hours to appear in the Reading List. I think we need to mount a coup...
FOOTNOTE UPDATE:
This post was set to publish at 9am this morning. It is now 11pm, and it's still not in the Reading List!! Is this some kind of sabotage effort by the Google gnomes to piss us all off so we end up moving to the (evidently hellish, according to some) world of Wordpress? It reminds me of the dying days of MySpace, all over again.
Sigh.
Have a fabulous party!
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that the weather slowly improves next week and it should stop feeling like the middle of winter.
You came through on Feedly okay, which kind of makes no sense - this Blogroll malarkey is so random.
Sx
Oh! Hello, Ms Scarlet! Not only did I just update my post with another bitter comment about the Blogger/Google gnomes being bastards, but I also never got an email notification that you had commented. Something is really going tits-up here, methinks. I'm still not going to leap over to an external feed for my own blog, though.
DeleteIt has been really shit weather for mid-May, hasn't it? After that lovely Spring, too. Trust it to get all warm and back-to-normal when I'm back in the office next week!
Hey ho. I am really looking forward to the party tomorrow - although after the busy week, and a whole day today wasted because the electrician was here tinkering with crap for almost six hours (which meant that practically every task - hoovering, tidying and bits and bobs - was put on hold while the 'leccy was off and on and off and on again), I'll probably be knackered far too early...
I'll still be there till the bitter end, though - I always am 😍. Jx
My Sideboard doesn't know if it's coming or going! I gave it a quick glance before bed last night and Maddie's "Cats: Jellicle Ball" post was there but this one (which was published before that) wasn't. And Mr Peenee's latest - published 4 hours ago, apparently - is! (I haven't published anything, so don't bother looking - maybe tomorrow.)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your Gay World Cup thoughts and party photos. I won't be watching as I have a wedding reception to go to.
Have fun tonight (not that I need to say it)!!
I really don't understand wtf is happening to this Reading List - earlier this week, posts by Peenee and Mitzi suddenly appeared hours after they were posted, but Maddie's posts don't have a time-stamp, so it's difficult to know if they're arriving as soon as they're posted or not.
DeleteAnyhow - sod all that malarkey, and on with the party! Jx
I can’t stop watching today’s animated GIFs.
ReplyDeleteI was forced to switch to WordPress a while back after unresolved problems with my blog and Google Blogger (they would never respond). The one thing I’m pleased about with WordPress is that they DO respond. However, they can drive me crazy, too. But Blogger lately is really pissing me off.
I’m so sorry you have to work for a living!
Those gifs encapsulate the craziness of Eurovision perfectly, don't they?!
DeleteHaving done an entire "lift-and-shift" of my blog from one platform to another (MySpace to here) once, I have no intention of attempting to do that again - not now there are 7442 posts published, and counting... I'll just have to be content with sticking here, moaning. Jx
PS I'm sorry I have to work for a living, too, but the Lottery numbers still haven't come up.
I guess the closest thing we have to Eurovision is America's Got Talent, but the show here doesn't sound anywhere as exciting as y'alls! I love the idea of having a watch party, sweetpea! Cheers! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThose "Got Talent" shows are a Simon Cowell franchise, that began over here, based on popular talent shows on British telly in the 1970s - but with more Cowell-style hysteria - Opportunity Knocks (which launched the careers of Les Dawson, Mary Hopkin and Lena Zavaroni) and New Faces (which gave us Lenny Henry, Victoria Wood and Showaddywaddy).
DeleteNot a patch on the Eurovision Song Contest - which is absolutely massive, and is viewed by millions of people across the globe. Except in the US. Your loss. Jx
I wrote a comment....where did it go? I also wrote a scrappy blog post and I'm not sure it's showing up yet!
ReplyDeleteWe'll all forever be wondering what it was you had to say Dinah... Jx
DeleteWhat ever happened to Bosnia Herzegovina you don't hear much of her these days.
ReplyDeleteShe's retired into obscurity 😍. Jx
