"Hooray, hooray, the first of May! Outdoor sex begins today."
In the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers, the daffs, tulips and primulas - as well as the cherry and apple blossoms in the neighbourhood - are over. The air is now scented with the intoxicating perfume of lilacs, jasmine, rowan and the last of the wallflowers. How does one adequately encapsulate the scents of Spring? The combination is simply divine.
To add to the uplifting mood, I'm counting down to the end of a particularly gruelling week - and tomorrow we're up in the deathly hours in order to get a taxi to Gatwick Airport, to catch our flight to Spain for a week's much-needed holiday! I have never needed a holiday this much [since the last one, of course 😎]!
Let's have something suitably Spanish to get the celebrations going, shall we - and who could be more appropriate than our Patron Saint of Plastic, Charo?!
¡Gracias Disco Es viernes!
Have a great weekend, dear reader! We intend to.
STOP PRESS:
I don't know when - or even if - you will actually see this, dear reader, but I timed it to publish at 7.30am...and it is now 6.30pm and it still hasn't shown up! I hate the Google gnomes.
On my side of the spinning globe it's 7.34am and (as I just mentioned to Mr Device, I'll take my camera out very soon...)
ReplyDeleteThe gnomes are a nuisance, aren't they? Drown them in Riocha!
Oooo - did you get an alert that this blog was posted, or did you check manually? Only it still hasn't arrived on the Blog Reader thingy, more than twelve hours after I posted it. Yes, the Google gnomes are a pain in the proverbial. I shall endeavour to forget all about them on the Costa for a week... Jx
DeleteLike I said...drown 'em in Riocha! I always check manually, but that's because of the 12 hour gap! Sometimes bloggers on this side are a "bit behind" but not sure why.
DeleteEnjoy Spain.
I might have guessed you'd be "old school" and go in the read blogs "on spec". Glad you did because, as suspected, this one didn't turn up in people's feeds until after we flew to Spain... Jx
DeleteHope you’re already enjoying the Spanish sunshine and dancing like Charo... and seeing buns everywhere like those on her backup dancers.
ReplyDeleteOh, we "cuchi-cuchi-ed" as best we could - and saw quite a bit of totty parading/jogging/meandering up and down the paseo on the playa in the blazing sunshine! Jx
DeleteI thought of you twice today - and both were gardening related thoughts linked to this very post (that wasn't on my Sideboard this morning - Bloody Blogger gnomes!): Early this morning I was kneeling by the pond scooping out duckweed and wondering where the horrid stench of BO/mince was coming from. Turns out it wasn't me but Salvia "Cherry Lips" (which I was lightly brushing against while scooping)! I hadn't realised they were so offensive.
ReplyDeleteAnd then later this morning I took The Mother to Woodgate nursery in Aylsham, and while she was having a coffee and scone, I happened upon the "rescue" section and picked up a Portuguese squill for £1!
Anyway, you'll be in Spain now, so happy holidays to you and Madam A!!
If you think Salvia "Cherry Lips" pongs, try Salvia x jamensis “Nachtvlinder” - the Madam likes it, as to him it's like blackcurrants; to me it stinks like cat pee! Our squills are putting on a magnificent show to greet us on our return - I'm sure I'll share another pic, or else it will definitely appear on Madam Arcati's regular posts on his Back Yard blog.

PS I've spotted you did a week of "pastiche posts" in my absence. Erm - thank you, I think...
Ah, yes - a thousand apologies... Fortunately, not many people saw my posts due to the continuing cock-ups of the Google Blogger gnomes!

PS Hopefully the bastard Google gnomes have had their arses kicked by now?
I miss everything because I am always late! All the blogging gnomes and gremlins have been busy this week - but you are off on holiday and are escaping the nightmare - have a fab time!

Psst… Mr Devine, where is the blogging rota? Is somebody supposed to be covering Jon’s absence?????
At least be post did eventually show up, Ms Scarlet - whether you receive notifications/check the Reading List or not! Jx
DeletePS I will be popping around to everyone's blogs some time today to see how "the rota" went, I'm sure...
I think this post showed up two days later on my reader. This is getting insane. But regardless I hope you have a lovely trip. I also I'm away for an extended weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt is insane. Why provide a "feed" function at all if it doesn't bloody work?
DeleteAnyhow, we're back after a faboo holiday [more on that later, no doubt], and I look forward to reading about yours. You were in New York at the same time as my sister Hils and hubbie The History Boy! Jx
Fab video. Just like us in La Nogelara.
ReplyDeleteExactly the same. The wig was a bit itchy, though. Jx
