
It would have been the 90th birthday this week of Miss Yma Sumac, "Songbird of the Andes" and possessor of one of the strangest vocal styles ever. She had a five-octave range of operatic quality, and certainly liked to show off every octave in practically every song!
On this Tacky Music Monday, here's just one - it's Chuncho, with an accompanying video of suitably incomprehensible variety. Miss Sumac appears bewildered in some exotic green wilderness...
