Swedish Princesses

Today we had sad news and happy news from our Swedish chums.

One of the more romantic love stories of the 20th century was that of Miss Lilian Davies (who died yesterday aged 97), who left poverty in Swansea in 1915 to make a new life for herself as a model in London, then later met Crown Prince Bertil (while still married to her first husband), fell in love, but had to wait another thirty years before they could get permission from the Swedish King to marry.

RIP Princess Lilian of Sweden, Duchess of Halland.

In much happier news, Princess Agnetha of Abba has "done a Bowie" and caused a tsunami of ripples across the interwebs of late with rumours of her resurgence into the music world - and lo and behold it turned out to be true!

Agnetha Fältskog's new single When You Really Love Someone is released today. Her album, A (which features a collaboration with Gary Barlow, and is produced by Swedish impresario Jorgen Elofsson who has worked with Britney Spears), follows later this year. Read today's interview with Agnetha on the BBC website.

And here it is, her new single - see what you think...

  1. I love Agnetha's new single. It's strange that they have released a differnt song from the album in Germany.

I can only hope that the rumour she is to perform a duet with Gary Barlow at Eurovision is true. JJx

    1. Germany is a funny place.

Eurovision would be that little more fabulous if Agnetha and Mr Barlow were there... Jx

  2. Thrilled to have her back! Hope she will indeed perform at Eurovision (although I would prefer it to be sans Barlow).
