La fête à Séville

Sigh. It's been a splendid weekend - the Diva exhibition on Friday, and two days of warm (if very windy) weather, potting-on, refreshing and generally pottering in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers. Now it's over, and the same old, same old joys of a working week resume.

There's larks and merriment on the horizon, however - we're off to Spain again in May! We'd already booked our apartment for a week in Benalmadena, but prior to that we are doing a little bit extra. Our hotels are now booked for day #1 in Seville, #2 in Cadiz, and #3 in Jerez! So, three cities (two of which we have never been to before) in a row, then off to city #4 (Malaga) on route to the Costa del Sol for our usual seven days of doing bugger-all by the Mediterranean...

Bliss.

In keeping with all that anticipated joy five weeks away, on this Tacky Music Monday I have just the thing...

I said when I posted this joyful number back in 2017: "...how can one resist the espectacular that is Raffaella Carra hosting a stage-full of crap flamenco dancers, children and safety gays, with a tribute to the music of Seville? Not me!"

Indeed!

Have a good wek, dear reader.

  1. Oh that video. I’m embarrassed for some of the performers, although I don’t know why. They clealy have no shame. Your upcoming travels sound like fun. All great places to visit.

    1. Spanish and Italian television spectaculars seem to specialise in embarrassment 😀

We're really looking forward to our trip - both Jerez and Cadiz have been on our "bucket list" for years, and we love Seville. Jx

  2. The maid and I enjoyed a day trip to Sevilla via Fuengirola, several years ago, but spent the duration of our time there in a gay sauna! I've never been to Jerez. I've been to Cadiz a few times only on cruises, so I can't tell you what the nightlife is like. Carmen likes it but I wasn't fussed.

    1. We've somehow managed to book ourselves into a gay hotel in Seville which proudly boasts "clothing optional"(!). That last bit of information was unsurprisingly not mentioned on Lastminute.com!

As for nightlife in any of the three cities, we'll have to do a bit of a snoop around... We're only one night in each, and midweek, so I'm not expecting much, tbh. Jx

  3. I'm happy you have such a grand holiday ahead, sweetpea! It will banish that monstrosity of strangeness masking as Flamenco! xoxo

    1. I rather hope any Flamenco we do hear is slightly less chaotic! Jx

    1. We grasp life with both hands, dear! Work is merely the means by which we get the enjoyable things in life, like holidays... Jx

  5. Oh I did enjoy the video (It's Raffaella Carra how could I not) but nobody does Tacky flamenco like the Dutch.

    1. It's a completely insane production - but of course, everything is improved by the mere presence of Raffaella! Jx

  6. Wonderful lady and performance. I'm enjoying a documentary, called Rafa, about her on Hulu. It may be on Disney +

    1. Now that looks like a must-see! We have a friend who has a Disney+ subscription, so I'll enquire whether he's up for hosting a little "film day"... Jx
