The lovely "Tete-a-Tete" daffs in the extensive gardens here at Dolores Delargo Towers never fail to cheer us up
Happy St David's Day, dear reader!
Who better to celebrate it with than not one, but two, of Wales' greatest vocal sons, Bryn Terfel and the ever-lovely Tom Jones, reminiscing about their (our) shared homeland?
Aw, there's lovely, innit?
So beautifully done. What a set of pipes on Bryn Terfel. I thought Terfel was going to sing in Welsh. It would be interesting to try to fit Welsh words into the same rhythm of an English-language song. Thanks for the daffodils!
ReplyDeleteThey're both such wonderful singers - it was an inspired choice to get them to do a duet! I don't think I have ever heard that particular song sung in Welsh; I certainly can't find a mention of such a version on doing a Google search... Jx
DeleteThank you for the lesson re: St David! I had no idea about this particular holiday and its Welsh history! Gorgeous daffodils, sweeetpea, and gorgeous music, too! xoxo
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, these Isles' "other" Patron Saints - George, Andrew and David - have all been somewhat left in the shade by the Guinness-sponsored stupidity of St Patrick's Day. Who was (probably) Welsh.
DeleteWales is the land of song, and daffodils! Jx
Our bulbs haven't even broken ground yet. That may change soon...I'm hearing 70 degrees for the week after next? Nothing like going from winter right to tropic weather.
ReplyDeleteBritish weather is certainly unpredictable, but we rarely get "big freezes" or "tropical weather", compared to other regions of the world. We give eternal thanks for the Gulf Stream... Jx
