Well, this turned out to be a week I wasn't really expecting, what with the health issue, operation and clinical follow-ups. Needless to say, I have been off work since.
Regardless, a weekend is always something to celebrate - even if it will be a busy one. My sister and I (and History Boy) are off to our old home town of Caerleon in Wales for a short stay. Mother's tenant [for thirty-two years!] in our former family home handed in her notice a few weeks ago, and since the prospective repairs and upgrades needed to modernise the place for future letting are prohibitive, she has decided to sell the house. We're there to welcome several estate agents, a clearance man for the attic, and to generally give the place a bit of a scrub.
We'll be back on Sunday...
Meanwhile, let's get the party started with a double-bill from today's birthday girl, Miss Crystal Waters - and Diolch i Ddisco ei fod yn ddydd Gwener!
Have a great weekend, dear reader!
Happy Friday! Even though it was a short week. Lets hope at happy hour tonight I don't pull a repeat performance of last week and sleep from a hang over till after 2pm.
ReplyDeleteHa! If Crystal Waters is playing on the jukebox, who knows what may happen..? Jx
DeleteI hope you’re fully recovered after your misadventure. And I hope there are no major surprises at the house after renting if for 32 years! Good luck and may you have a chance to enjoy the old stomping grounds.
ReplyDeleteI have been feeling better day by day - I was back to eating (soft) solids when we were win Wales this weekend. We were only there for one full day, and that was hard slog, so apart from going to a pub that used to be a regular haunt (now modernised and changed a lot from those days) for the evening meal, we didn't get a huge chance to do a proper "walkabout". Jx
DeleteNice to see some Welsh words ...cofion gorau
ReplyDeleteDiolch i chi! I don't actually speak Welsh, by the way... Jx
DeleteNeither do I these days, except a few choices phrases for Rugby matches. But I stumbled along with Welsh friends when I lived in UK
DeleteIt's not the easiest - nor the most pleasing on the ear - of languages... Jx
DeleteYou've had a bit of a week of it! I hope the house clearance goes well!

It's been a helluva week, indeed! Thankfully I was fit enough to tackle the "Welsh Odyssey".
DeleteI got home with a wheelie suitcase and three other bags-for-life full to the brim, and that's just some of the stuff we found! I toyed with the idea of taking some old schoolbooks, but then thought that would be a nostalgia-kick too far (they went in bin bags, like so much else)... Needless to say, I got a taxi back from Paddington to Wood Green. Jx
You should have borrowed mitzi's maid of all work, Carmen for the scrubbing and maybe for a cover of 100% Pure Love.
ReplyDeleteWould we have ever got any work done, or would we have spent the day boogieing around the living-room? Jx
DeleteHope all goes well in Wales it will be a very odd feeling being back there after all of these yesrs
ReplyDeleteIt did feel like we were surrounded by ghosts of the past at the old house... Jx
