RIP, André Leon Talley
I may be off again today, but I haven't forgotten our traditional way to welcome in a weekend - forget the grey, cold, gloomy weather; try on that preposterous "twisted-balloon" crown one more time...and get ready to party like (Sinitta's auntie) Miss Amii Stewart!
Thank Disco It's Friday!
Amii Stewart is a total knockout! She fell in love with Italy, moved there and carved out a nice little career for herself. Adore her. She had a great set of pipes and has been model beautiful her whole life. As for Andre' - he certainly created a wonderful life for himself. So brave. Such an icon and a trailblazer. Have a lovely weekend, dear.
ReplyDeleteHer big success came as a result of two Brits - producer/songwriter Barry Leng and the legendary composer Simon May (who went on to write numerous TV themes including Eastenders). She moved to Italy after the Disco era, I believe. Jx
DeleteSafety gays with tight trousers!
ReplyDeleteOur favourite kind! Jx
DeleteLoved it then and love it now. she is Fab.
ReplyDeleteOne of the very best Disco records in the whole genre! Jx
DeleteOh gawd! Forget the 78 records..I'm almost embalmed!
ReplyDeleteBack when Amii was in the charts, the "mini-cassette tape" was new-fangled technology :-)

Do you remember cartridge players? My Dad was lent a car with a cartridge player for a holiday back in the seventies - only two cartridges though - Tammy Wynette, and Barry Manilow. I remember cartridges in cars being so luxurious it hurt!!
DeleteAnyhow - wish we'd had the Ami Stewart cartridge.

Four-track or eight-track? I do vaguely remember one of my childhood friend's dad had a cartridge player in his car. They weren't particularly posh, either... Jx
DeleteThink it must have been eight-track - I'm going to Google to see if I can find those cartridges - Thus putting off the chores for another hour!
