It's gloriously sunny out there - and at the end of a particularly tortuous week, to boot!
As if we need any more excuses to get into a party mood, yesterday would have been the 80th birthday of the Queen of Kitsch Miss Tammy Wynette - so let's boogie on down with the grande dame herself, and her ice-cream van...
...and Thank Disco It's Friday!
Have a great weekend, dear reader!
My favorite pill-popping country Mama. You can take the girl outta the trailer park, but you can't teach her basic math. Her love for George was her undoing. And she may have had her sense of style and class - but it was a hoot and half to watch. I remember this song. It was like an answer to PBS and Dusty? Which came first? Ah, it was a magical time... Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteA magical time, indeed.
DeleteThis bizarre collaboration was in 1991, four years after the Pet Shop Boys had "resurrected" Dusty's career, and three years after they'd done the same for Liza...
It's a timeless thing, nonetheless... Jx
I have never seen this video. Wow! Where’s Leslie Jordan?
ReplyDeleteUnder Tammy's skirt, probably. Jx
DeleteI do like this tune - it's so silly! Is Mu-Mu land Devon?
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, what sun???? Only just peeking through now - still chilly this morning.
Sx
The ice cream van might possibly have passed through Ilfracombe... Jx
DeletePS It's been hot, hot, hot here!
Love it. LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Jon!
I somehow guessed you might! Jx
DeletePS We've missed you...
