Love is never tragical when you got the magical feelings coming through

Magic's come a long way since the days of Tommy Cooper and Paul Daniels...

John-John and I went to see the latest Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last night (just three days after its première!). Needless to say, it was stunning...

...if perhaps a movie that is more aimed at "geeks" like us, given the depth of complexity to the plot and its ties to several previous stories including Spider Man: No Way Home and Wandavision. But it has sufficient fast-paced battles, scary chases and even a touch of gore (courtesy of director Sam Raimi) to please the audience.

Changing tack completely, here's an "appropriate" song to take our minds off the drizzle outside...

Lordy - haven't heard that in years..!

  1. I love these movies, but then as more come out and they get interconnected, I get lost, since I only like some of the movies. It took me forever to pieces together the Avenger movies. But then thought it was Brillant how they all get connected. And what's not to like about Benedict?

    1. Not giving too much away, the real "star" of this film was Elizabeth Olsen as "the Scarlet Witch".

I've adored all the Marvel stuff I've seen so far - even Eternals (which got a bit of a critical slagging-off) - but then again, I have been a fan of the comics since I was about 6 or 7 years old... Jx

  2. I have seen none of these films, although I want to. San Geraldo has no interest. I need to start going by myself. AND I need to catch up online, too.

    1. There's a helluva lot to catch up on, my dear! The official Marvel Cinematic Universe began in 2008 with Iron Man (and the whole concept of Marvel Comics heroes being given the big-screen treatment began even earlier in 2002 with Spider-Man, but I digress).

As a quick(?) catch-up to where we are now, you could do worse than Avengers Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), the entire WandaVision Disney+ TV series (2021) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) before watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, there are other hugely entertaining parts of the MCU that really are too good to miss - including Guardians of the Galaxy (vols 1 & 2), Thor: Ragnarok, the first Doctor Strange film (2016) and the Loki television series... 3. I'm clueless about the films, but it's nice to hear that tune again. No magic in Devon this morning, just heavy rain.

    1. That rain's heading here later, more's the pity! Shame I can't just wave my hands about and magic it away... Jx

  4. Super hero stuff does nothing for me. I am so CGI-over-it. I can't even think of the last one I'd seen. I think it was the second Spiderman? Back when McGuire was playing him... I don't keep up on the Marvel/DC movies at all. They all seem alike and standing in front of a green screen making faces? That's not acting. Kizzes.

    1. Each to their own, dear!

The acting's better in most Marvel movies than numerous "worthy" art-house films like The Godfather [in fact, anything Al Pacino is in is ruined by his hugely overrated presence] or My Private Idaho [both leads were dreadful]; or anything with Nicholas Cage or Gwyneth Paltrow or Kevin Costner or Keira Knightley or [perish the hought!] Ben-bloody-Stiller in it.

  5. I haven't seen Spider-Man: No Way Home or WandaVision yet but I'll be going to see Doctor Strange next week! But I won't be watching for him (as I can take or leave him - although Benedict Cumberbatch is okay), it's the Scarlet Witch who I'm far more interested in. I think she's fab!

    1. Surprised you never watched Wandavision then - that was an utterly brilliant series.

      Enjoy the witchery! Jx
