A Bank Holiday in the UK rained-off? Surely not? That never happens... Except. Every. Time.
Sigh. We had such plans, after a remarkable evening of brilliant performances by the troupers of Postmodern Jukebox live at the Palladium last night [More on that later, no doubt], for some productive pottering in the garden, to get things presentable for the influx of guests for our Grand Eurovision Song Contest Party next weekend... We'll just have to concentrate on all the housework it takes to prepare the house for the occasion instead (a less rewarding chore, of course).
All that said, it is still a Tacky Music Monday, and it's just crying out for a Eurovision-themed "wake-up call"!
Here's a selection of - ahem - "favourite" tacky moments:
And, finally... This. Actually Happened.
Needless to say, none of 'em actually won.
We're on countdown now, anticipating our gang's usual flurry of OTT outfits, the music, the madness - the shouting! - that accompanies "The Gay World Cup".
Meanwhile, have a good week, dear reader!
Sorry about the weather. That reminds me of summers and planned pool parties in Connecticut. Sunny all week and then rain all weekend.
ReplyDeleteDustin and the first three are Turkeys! Why did I watch them?!?
It's like watching a car crash. You know you shouldn't, but you just can't look away... Jx
DeleteBetween your banking holidays and our holidays...its a wonder anything in the UK and the US gets done.
ReplyDeleteWe have Xmas Day, Boxing Day, Easter, New Year's Day, May Day, the (artist formerly known as "Whitsun") late Spring Bank Holiday [yes - two in May; ridiculous!], then nothing all summer until late August Bank Holiday. Huge gaps across the whole of summer and then the whole of autumn. Silly, really. Jx
DeletePS Did you enjoy the - ahem - music?
I always enjoy the juke box here! Monday are a favorite but don't tell anyone.
DeleteMum's the word! Jx
DeleteYou need to move up here on the coast, Jon - it only rains on half the Bank Holidays each year. This whole weekend has been nothing but glorious sunshine! I had to get the factor 50 out!
ReplyDeleteSorry. Don't mean to brag.
Ah, "Tropical North Norfolk". One twist of the Jet-stream, and you'll be back to "grim North Sea Greyness", as is usual 🤣🤣 Jx
DeleteYou are, of course, correct. This morning greeted me with thick fog and chillier temps, although the sun came out later and I've just got in from lounging about on the paysho thinking about all the gardening jobs that I could have been doing (I did mow the lawn, though).
DeleteAfter (frustratingly) being in work and in meetings most of the (gloriously sunny) day today, I did manage about an hour in the garden, moving a few things along into bigger pots to help them survive our ten-day absence. If it's fine tomorrow, I still have loads more to do! Jx
DeleteAck, rain off and on here too. I do what I can to get SOMETHING done even if I only get one small plant in the ground or a handful of weeds pulled. They're threatening us with 80-degree temps by the end of the week when we've been sitting comfortably in the mid to high 60s for week. I believe we shall all melt.
ReplyDeleteThe rain was unrelenting all day yesterday - today, the sun is shining and the skies are blue, and I am in the office all day. Grrr! Jx
DeleteI can't imagine watching the entire undiluted madness, it must be like a religious experience.
ReplyDeleteWhen they briefly started showing it in 'Merka, CNN made a rather understated attempt to describe it to an otherwise bewildered US audience thus: "It's quite theatrical. Think the Oscars, Grammys, Tony Awards, "American Idol," "The X Factor" and "America's Got Talent" all rolled into one - and then triple that."
DeleteHallelujah!! Jx
