Don't Stop...

Another weekend is almost upon us, and we need to plan a party. However, on reading the obits, it would seem "they're dropping like flies at the moment" - not one, but two all-time greats whose music has been the backbone of many a celebration have packed up their glitter boots and flares for the great underlit dancefloor of Fabulon.

So let us pay due homage, and let them commence the festivities!

First up, RIP Calvin Yarbrough:

...and also RIP Walter Scott, founder-member of The Whispers:

Thank Disco It's Friday!

Have a great one, dear reader!

  1. Have a great weekend! Best stay off the dance floor as I think it's going to be a warm one.

    1. I certainly shan't be wearing a crimplene flared suit and nylon shirt - even open to the navel with a medallion! Jx

    1. I intend to! [And with just a week to go until Pride, we'll probably be doing the final bits and bobs for our outfits...] Jx

  3. I didn't recognize either of those names, but the minute the bass lines on both of those songs dropped, I immediately knew the choons.

    1. That's always been the case with dance/Disco music - bands and artists come and go (Hues Corporation? The Sylvers? Eiffel 65? Alice Deejay? Mr. Oizo? Sak Noel, anyone?) but we forever remember their dancefloor hit (usually singular)... Jx

  4. Oh, dear. Who's been over generous with the fly spray?
(I must admit, I didn't recognise the first one but I know "And the beat goes on".)

    Happy Hot Weekend!

    1. 'Tis funny how the memory works, isn't it? The former was more recent than the other. Jx

    1. The '70s is now half a century away! It's not really surprising that the stars of that era are old... Jx
