Now, that's what I call a party! [The send-off for our beloved Lady Shaston] - which made the news here and here, among others
After an unusual, but still taxing, week - three out of five days were taken up by all-day training, which means I've been stuck in our living-room doing work-related stuff for far more time than I would like [I'm not a "work-from-home sort of person"; I never did so before the pandemic lockdowns, and I have largely avoided doing ever since] - the weekend is looming. And it's forecast to be the hottest so far this year!
We need to get ourselves in the party mood, dear reader - and what better way than with a dance classic, from another genius who has recently departed for Fabulon, DJ/producer/singer John Reid? If the name is unfamiliar, his band's biggest hit certainly won't be...
Thank Disco It's Friday!
That song is (scarily) thirty years old - and still no-one has a clue what he's singing.
Have a great weekend, dear reader! Wear sunscreen.
I enjoyed these pictures. It looks like you gave her a good send off. The pub and your friend Sal. But I'm sure this won't keep her down. And you got that right I'm glad the weekend's here. Our tempsts have already shot up to the 90s. And I'm happy about that. The garden was getting far too much rain and no son. I have a weekend to myself with exception to a lovely happy hour tomorrow night. And then next week three days of work before a few jaunts.
ReplyDeleteWe are officially in a heatwave! Even though I was feeling somewhat shell-shocked after the training yesterday I had to do an "emergency" watering of the garden as things were looking rather wilted out there...

PS I'm pretty certain that Our Sal will find something that will keep her in London where she belongs, rather than moving back to boring old Newcastle!
Sal will be snapped up to run an establishment, I reckon. Great fun pics!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, we are forecast rain this weekend, I don't know what happened but they changed their minds about the wall to wall sunshine overnight!

Rain?! So the heatwave avoids Devon yet again... Jx
DeleteLooks like a great send-off. You’ll have to follow Sal wherever she goes. I’m afraid the name and the biggest hit mean nothing to me. I am seriously lacking in knowledge of house music.
ReplyDeleteSal's invited us to Newcastle, but not sure we'll be rushing up there... She will be coming to London quite a bit, no doubt, as she loves the theatre, exhibitions, Eurovision and Pride. I'm not sure they have that much of that sort of thing in the North East 🤣.
DeleteMy music tastes are very eclectic - everything from Wagner to the Vengaboys - but in the 1990s in particular, dance music was king! I was still going to clubs thirty years ago, too... On checking the Nightcrawlers' Wikipedia entry it seems this choon was a very minor hit in the mainstream chart in the US, but top 10 in the dance music chart - so it's understandable that if you didn't listen to that kind of radio station you probably wouldn't have heard it. Jx
It was a sad end to a fab pub but we sent her off in style. It was a great evening.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Nightcrawlers, I always think they are singing ' As Delightful as Work' which is very odd.
I just looked the lyrics up - see here - and they make no sense whatsoever, so interpret them as you may... Jx
